I want you to give me a story that shows me what genre you are best with. I want you to really wow me with this one. This should be your pride and joy, something that REALLY tells me how great you are in your area of writing expertise.
I will add more points for every entry that is worthy of the finalist's list.
RULES:
1. Your story must be really great. As in, your very best... it REALLY has to blow me away.
2. I would prefer that your grammar be as correct as possible. I will not disqualify you for bad grammar, but if it is so ridiculously horrid that I can hardly read your story without being repeatedly slapped in the face by bad English, then I will definitely tell you that your chances in the contest will be slim if you do not clean up your story.
3. Cursing is allowed, but no erotica. Sorry, but it would freak me out if an erotica story was you very best, especially because it is a little sad if your best genre is erotica. No offense to erotica fans, but I definitely do not think that erotica is the best thing there is to writing.
4. Vampires, werewolves, and all other mythological and fictional creatures are allowed, as long as they are as original as possible. I don't want you to parrot what other writers have said until my ears bleed dry. I want to hear YOUR best... not theirs.
5. Similarly, no fanfiction is allowed in this contest. It is just not original enough to qualify for your own. I am fine with anything that is INSPIRED by another person's writings, a TV show, or a movie, as long as it is yours in the long run.
But most of all, HAVE FUN!
Now get writing.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on June 23
- Rewards: Gold: 100, Silver: 50, Bronze: 25
- Final notes: This contest was actually a lot more fun than I thought it would be! Almost all the entries, especially those in the finalist's list, were just fantastic. The dark, depressing stuff really seemed to win me over, though there were some other entries that I felt really bad about not giving a higher ranking. This has to be one of the most difficult contests I have ever had to judge. But it was very fun as well! I apologize for the delay in judging, but I have been pretty busy lately and have not had much of a chance to read and comment on all of the entries. I apologize if I did not comment on yours-- I really tried to give nice comments for them all. And again, thank you all for entering. I only wish I had more trophies to give. ^^;;

Awesome! Bookmarked! Love how you didn't allow prewrites!

I lol'd at your rule 3.
Not sure how a new story can possibly qualify as anyone's pride and joy though.
Most stories need quite a bit of editing and polishing before they really shine. There's no way I'd be more proud of a brand new story than of one I'd spent extra time fixing up. My prides and joys are all prewrites.

I really have to agree. I keep my best on a shelf in my room.

Ditto. I was lining an entry up until I saw no prewrites. No story from me

Well, yeah, I understand that it may not be your very best story if it's not a prewrite, but I just said that to emphasize how purely AWESOME your story will be. Though depending on the quality of the entries I get in the near future, I will consider changing this rule.

Thanks for the feedback and your honesty.

You know, I think I might actually allow prewrites now. I am just not getting very many entries at this point, so I guess I should widen the criteria.
So tell your friends!

I can't write short stories, so would you mind if I entered one of my short pieces of prose that shows the way I see life? o3o
-
I think having no pre-writes offers people a challenge to create something even better than what they already have. So maybe our pride and joys are already written, but even they had to be a new write at some time. We can all come up with some awesome new writes I'm sure.
-
<.< Well ya I undersatnd no prewrites gives a challange but a lot of us can't write short stories -like myself- so we can't start a new novle or first chapter and not contiune it -like myself- and then they'd stop the other novel -like myself- and get confused and frustrated at another non written novel and stuck with one that they really don;t get. -Like myself- Ok I'm done.
-
i will add another chapter to my story if it isn't already too long for this contest just let me know umm my story is the one with 5400 words
