The Power of Words.

(OHEMGEE MY FIRST CONTEST!)

Okay. So I've begun to notice a lack in some people's words; it takes some far longer to get their point across than others. What I want from you, my fellow writers, is ten sentences full of luscious language that will evoke one or more of the following emotions in me:

1.) Joy
2.) Disgust
3.) Sadness
4.) Curiosity
5.) Sympathy

The longer your sentences are, the less I will be impressed. You may go under the limit of ten sentences (if you do you'll get brownie points). It can be out of a story you've previously written, or something that you've just come up with--the choice is up to you. Also, you are not limited to only one emotion--try and elicit as many as you please.

That's pretty much it. Any subject is fine, coarse language is fine, erotica and homosexuality is fine, just remember that the focus of this contest is how well you can put the English language into use. Don't be scared to have me running for a dictionary--no one's vocab can ever be too extensive.

So what are you waiting for!? ENTERENTERENTER!

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on May 25
  • Rewards: Gold: 200, Silver: 100, Bronze: 50, Honorable mention: 5 people
  • Final notes:
Judging this was far more difficult than I could've imagined; which is great, because I had a lot of entries, but also tragic, because I can't give every entry their due! Honestly, I've spent the last hour arranging and rearranging the finalists and winners. WHY DO YOU ALL HAVE TO BE SO GOOD?!? I guess it's a great dilemma for a judge to be in. xD

Anyway, Curiosity won gold because that was the only entry that provoked joy and made me SMILE.

Illumination won silver because (while the sentences were long) the language was beautiful and I was a little amazed by how much the author could fit in only ten sentences.

Fresh Meat placed bronze because of the great imagery and its ability to make me want to be sick! xD

The honorable mentions are in order of favorites.

ONCE AGAIN, GREAT JOB EVERYBODY AND I HOPE TO SEE YOU IN MY FUTURE CONTESTS!!!
