I have an idea.
I am currently in a Greek and Roman Religious Studies class. I just finished writing an essay about the natural qualities of Athena, Demeter, and Aphrodite. And you know what? I thought to myself... it would be fun to write a story about them!
So that is your task. Write a story about either of the three goddesses - Athena, Demeter, or Aphrodite - using their predetermined characteristics. I don't care what you make happen - the story can be focused in the ancient Greek world or even in today. Just make it creative!
This might take a little research if you are not up-to-date on your Greek mythology, but it shouldn't be too hard. Just check out Wikipedia to brush up on your details.
Athena - goddess of war/protection of the city: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athena
Demeter - goddess of the fertility of the earth: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demeter
Aphrodite - goddess of beauty and love: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aphrodite
Rules:
1. Make it well-crafted. Anything that has too many grammatical errors will not place.
2. Have fun and be creative! This has a lot of potential.
That's all! Good luck!

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on May 15
- Rewards: Gold: 100
- Final notes: First of all, I would like to apologize to everyone for not judging for so long. It's a douchey thing to do, so I'm sorry. But I've actually developed a life away from the internet now that college is over for the summer, so it made it that much more difficult to get back on the computer (on dial-up, nonetheless). So don't hate me.
Anyways... I liked all the creative effort this contest brought forth! All the entries were exciting and interesting to read... But I believe the final three were the best crafted and most exciting. Congrats to the winners as well as to everyone else for putting together a great bunch of stories.

I have a story about Hades and Persephone, Demeter's daughter, but I don't know if you want only stories about those three goddesses. Can I still enter it?
-
-
Sure, that's fine. Demeter's identity is pretty much based on her daughter's, so I will definitely allow it. However, if possible... can you at least make mention of Demeter in there somewhere? Even if it's just like "Persephone was the daughter of Demeter, who was the goddess of the earth," etc.
-
-
Oh yeah, Demeter's IN the story. She's just not a main character
. (My story is the retelling of the romance between Persephone and Hades, Neomaxi style
.)
-
-
Ok then

Sounds interesting!
-
-
-
-
Oh, this is cool. I might enter!
-
Ooh, I love Greek mythology! I think I might enter this...
-
Heh - I thought you were gonna make us do the Paris thing for a minute. Hera, Athena, or Aphrodite?
-
-
Lol, that would be a good contest as well...
-
-
Athena was better known as the goddess of wisdom and culture.
-
This is such an awesome idea for a contest! I once wrote a paper on some greek goddesses, and if my memory is correct, it was these same three ones! How's that for a small world?
-
I am going to bet that most of your entries are going to be about Demeter and Aphrodite...lol
-
Totally just had to do a project on Demeter for my Humanities class. This is a great contest idea!! Hopefully I'll have the time in the next few days to enter something.. If not.. again.. This is such a great contest idea!
-
-
I can extend the deadline, if you would like me to.
-
-
Yo, it's been a month since this contest closed. Are you gonna judge or what?
-
-
Terribly sorry, I hate people that do this! I never thought I would be one of them...
I've just been really busy with the culmination of the end of the semester. However, I'm finished tomorrow, so I promise I will judge soon!
