Hey everybody!
Yes, I have yet another contest....I have another one up, but that's only for people who have passed through the quarter finals......anyway, never mind my rambling, on with the contest!
I just really want to read some good stories on here, so I've decided to make this contest open for pretty much everyone (or a lot of people at least). I always try and make my contests complicated, or give them lots of options, but this time, there aren't.
I'm looking for one of these two things;
1. A horror story. Now, I like some gore in a story, but I much prefer suspense, which sometimes seems to get forgotten. Also, for brownies points, make it about werewolves.....
Other than that, you're free to write what you like.
2. Write it around a game you enjoyed. Again, for brownies points, you could use Fallout 3 (bIG brownie points, I love that game), GTA 4, Assassin's Creed, or Soulcaliber-but! You don't have to use these . It can be any game you want, I'm just mentioning what I would love.
All the stories can be any length, but please don't make them too long, I do have a job and am also trying to finish my novel lol
Also, I'm allowing pre-writes in case you already have something that fits, but please don't put any old thing.
And have fun!
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on April 28
- Rewards: Gold: 200, Silver: 100, Bronze: 70, Honorable mention: 4 people
- Final notes: First off, sorry it took so long for judging, I've been rather busy this month, so it took a little longer than usual. Plus, I didn't expect so many entries.
It sounds cheesy, but I really wish that I was able to give out more trophies, as there were several really amazing stories in the contest. But in the end, I managed to whittle it down (and even then, I added two more honourable mentions!)
Thank you to everyone who entered, I truly enjoyed reading every single one.
Mirry

What about adding a game to a horror story?
I have an idea about a story having a Roleplaying World of Darkness group doing a horror game and having what they roll ensue what happened in the horror storyline.
Would that be acceptable for both? -
-
Sure, that sounds like a really cool idea
-
-
OOooh! looks like a fun contest! Just my thing ^.^
-
-
Glad to hear it, I'm going to read your entry now-and I see it's about werewolves! *runs and hugs Lady Pixie*
-
Also, very cool to see another Wiccan on the site, especially as you love History too
-
-
yay! *hugs back* lol
Good luck with the contest
-
-
-
I have one but it's based more on a game genre (text adventure) than a single game itself.
(one of these day's I'll finish the next part of Feral Nights... maybe for your next contest.
)
-
-
That would be cool, go ahead and enter it

And you better do-I read up to the end of your third chapter and was like 'woah, where's the rest of it!!!' lol
-
-
Interesting!
-
-
Thank you
-
-
Does it have to be about computer or video games? Would you accept a stories about board games?
-
-
Go on then.......why not!
-
-
Sweet. I'll see what I can come up with then.
-
-
-
Yay! FO3! I love that game.
I only started playing it a month or so ago, very addictive. The dialogue in it is just brilliant.
I actually have an old story I wrote for a computer game. Hope you know of Counter Strike!
-
-
It seriously is the coolest game ever-I am a complete gaming geek and I loved Oblivion.....when they brought out Fallout3, I thought I wouldn't like it as I don't normally like sci-fi sort of games, but......I love it more!
I really like the storyline, as you say, the dialogue, and the whole map is breath-taking
I look forward to reading it! I have heard of it, but I've never played it lol
-
-
Mmm. Close to coolest, I still prefer the Half-Life games.
But still, very much awesome. I thought it was epic that I could talk Eden into blowing himself up. My speaking skillz are the win.
Definitely very pretty map. *Loves having a brother who goes all out building gaming PCs.* Means I get to play games on fast PCs.
-
-
I've never played on Half-Life(yet!), but I want to. That does sound pretty epic.....*Epic winz lolz
*
That is so not fair...we have a friend who build pretty fast computers but he lives quite far away from us, so we don't always get to have the benefit of his skills
I also loved Heavenly Sword on ps3, but I think that was mainly 'cos I got to play a girl for once lol
-
-
Well, wait till whoever it is (mind blank and can't remember at the moment) finishes remaking the first game with Steam graphics before you play it. 'Cause that'll make the first game far more fun.
Bummer, sucks not always having a speedy machine to play on. We still have trouble playing lan games together, 'cause there is always one computer that doesn't want to run the game. >.<
I've never played Heavenly Sword, prolly 'cause it's a console game, I'm PCs all the way.
I decided to play a female character in FO3, as everyone else I knew were playing guys, I decided to be different. See if they made any changes when you played a female char. Not many, but it's still fun.
-
-
Ok, will do
Well, my bf's computer is pretty good, but it needed a bigger case, so he's still in the process of moving all the parts over; whereas my laptop is new, but needs everything to be on the lowest settings for anything to even move......
I think I'm a little more into console games than pc games, but I'm a complete WoW geek, so I guess that makes up for it *skulks away embaressed lol* -
-
Heh, you should see my brother's newest PC. He built it just over a month ago. He got a full tower case, it's got 250mm fan on the front (looks like a jet) and a 360mm fan on the side. Which was friggin huge! But he didn't think to check the size of his CPU heatsink so he had to take the fan off the side 'cause it was too big. >.< So he failed there. But it's still a pretty impressive case.
*gasp* Not a WoW geek! >.<
Everyone is one of those. 'Cept me. I don't have the money to be able to afford to play that game... or the time. Heh. So I stick to shorter ones with less running around involved. And an end.
-
-
Nice
Conrad (my bf) had to get a bigger fan for his 'cos the tiny one he had didn't really do much, so it overheated the motherboard....
You sound a lot more like Conrad, he prefers games with an end as well, but I like having something that is never-ending....I don't really have the time either, but I go on a few times a week. A few of the people I talk to on the game were a bit shocked when I said that. They were like 'Zomg! You don't go on every minute of every day of every week?Zomg ur sad.'
But that's probably a compliment coming from them lol
-
-
Hehe. Andrew (my brother) got a smaller fan to stick on the side to replace the big one. And that 120mm fan looks TINY next to the other fan. xD But it works, he's still got pretty good cooling in it.
Overheated MOBOs are no fun.
Yeah, I do like the not so linear game play of FO3 though. I finished the game by about level 13, and then went back to an earlier point and have been exploring everywhere. Seeing what's out there. So far my favourite part was finding a nutter who'd holed himself up in an alley and will blow it up if he sees you.
The things he says is hilarious.
'And the sun will rise in the North... No, the North-West! For 40 days and 63 nights and nobody will notice!' -
-
They really aren't any fun-and I wish he'd get on with fixing it 'cos I have the book cover need for 'Conner' on his hard-drive lol!

I'm only at level 6 atm, I shall have to find this strange man down an alley, he sounds pretty funny
I love exploring everywhere, but I have to admit, some stuff does make me jump occasionally on FO3.....I'm not a scaredy cat, but ~I guess that's why you shouldn't play games in the dark lol
-
-
Ohhh, I shouldn't say too much about the game then. xD Don't want to spoil anything.
But, the dude in the alley is on the far right hand side of the map, you'll need to be a quite high level to get there. Find Reilly's Rangers and you're in the right area.
The Ghouls are creepy. >.> Even though I know I can blow them to pieces in one shot now, I still don't like the hissing growl they make. -
-
Oh, no, it's fine, Conrad's got up to level 14, so I've seen a lot of the storyline by now....which was very cool, I loved the whole 'Eden' bit in black and white, I thought it was very original....
I'll look out for it then-or just use Conrad's character
Yeah, that's what kept creeping me out, especially when you could hear them, but not see them-and I didn't like the weird robots with brains in the top of them....they scared me a little with being cheerful while killing you
-
-
Can you read my story please.
-
-
Yes, once the contest is finished, as with all the other entries. Some of us have jobs and other tihng skeeping us busy; we can't read a story the second it is put up, especially if I'm not online, please be patient >:/
