Guess what?
Today is my birthday (12th February) - and *cringes*, I'm 30.
I've spent the last three months stressing over today, but since it is nice and sunny this morning, I figured it can't be that bad, right?
I thought that if anything was going to make today fantastic, I would have to do something about it. Since running around naked isn't really my thing, I thought I'd hold a contest. (Don't query how my mind works, it likes to eat fingers that poke it.)
Anyway...
Your quest/mission/task is to write me a funny story/poem/vignette/whatever, around the following scenario. The person who makes me laugh the most and keeps my mind distracted from turning 30 will get gold. Silver to the next person and so on, and so forth.
Contest will be open at least 36 hours and extend to whenever I feel like it. May close without prior warning.
SCENARIO:
My birthday party. Something happens. An accident perhaps. Or a prank gone wrong. Maybe something added to the food/drink/my hair.
What is it? Why did it happen?
Whatever it is, I want funny, ridiculous humour.
RULES:
* Write at least 30 words and no more than 500
* Add something purple to the story
*Brownie points for creativity
* Make me laugh. Make me sad or angry and I will DQ
* Good grammar preferable, but this time I really don't care about it. As long as what I am reading makes sense and doesn't annoy me, I don't care about the lack of standards.
* No erotica or love or romance. Doing so will earn you a DQ and you being added to my 'Hit List'.
* No teenage emo angst or vampires. Doing so will earn you an instant DQ and you being added to the TOP of the above 'Hit List'.
* Add some ridiculous line of nonsense to your author's notes. Brownie points for randomness.
* Have fun and make me laugh.
*Swearing tolerated, but make it appropriate if you do use it.

- Final notes: Thank you for making the effort to enter. I've decided that 30 can't be that bad afterall.
The stories were both weird and wonderful (I think I got about 50/50), and most brought a smile.

I can't imagine you being scared of entering a contest just because Dan has. I'm pretty confident that you'd be able to write something on par with him. Afterall, we can't make the contest too easy.

My problem is I'll just get used to being in my thirties and the next thing I'll know I'll be turning 40.
It didn't help that I wasted a good part of my early 20's in prison. Only bonus about that is I know some pretty interesting things...
