The Almost Anything Contest! Something For Everyone!

This is my third contest on story write, and I am proud to say my biggest. I've been hearing that everyone has been having writers' block lately, so I thought I would throw in OPTIONS (not your usual ones) for everyone to chose from. This contest is NOT just about writers block, ANYONE CAN ENTER. There is almost every type of genre I could stand to read listed below. If you do not see yours below then that is because I could not tolerate it. Your job as a writer is to entertain me, keep me interested. YES I WILL BE ADDING POINTS AS MORE ENTRIES ARE ADDED.

"Every subject except sex is boring, until the writer makes it interesting."-- I forgot who said that.

With that said, you may chose one option below to write about. If you would like me to add something to the list then please do not hesitate to add it in the comments below. I WILL comment on every story that is entered into my contest.

OPTION NUMBER ONE: ETHICAL AND PHILOSOPHICAL TOPICS..

This option is for those of us who like to contemplate things. Since THIS option will consist of more philosophical and ethical subjects, I can't restrict anyone here. If you find one of my topics interesting, then you have free reign to expand upon it, agree, or disagree. You must provide a reason WHY you agree, disagree, or are expanding upon the topic. It must be lengthy and thorough. THERE IS NO LENGTH BOUNDARIES (please do not make me regret saying that). So basically if you have a thought, go with it, and let it finish on its own. Choose one only!

1). Martin Luther King Jr. is a first rate world class intellectual and philosopher. He is the equal to James Madison (wrote the U.S. Constitution), and Thomas Jefferson (Declaration of Independence). M.L.K's interpretation of American history, democracy, and philosophy is just as good as anyone's. He was a major philosophical player.

2). Nothing is more important than the recognition of the person hood of humans. When you loose the person hood (race, class, personality) of a human being, it is an act of violence to not recognize the humanity (the worth) of another human being. (with this you could bring in examples of Hitler and the Nazi camps, Slavery in the early 1900's, or another example where people were treated and categorized as a farming animal.

3). Codes: (the definition in terms of ethics) is a set of written, or unwritten rules that determine ones course of action or thoughts. Could an individuals' "codes" have an effect upon the rising divorce cases in America, or the failures of relationships, or their ways of thought? And if so, and someone grows up in a family with bad "codes," is it their fault if they grow up with a bad code as well?

4) When we have a "paradigm shift" (the moment we come into deeper knowledge of the world and our place in the world) and our life changes for either the better or worse, is the price of knowledge worth it? The answer is, if you are strong enough. What does it mean?

NOW FOR ALL OF YOU PEOPLE WHO LIKE FANTASY HERE ARE A FEW TOPICS FOR YOU

OPTION NUMBER TWO: FANTASY, SUPERNATURAL, MYSTICAL

IMPORTANT FOR THESE TOPICS: If you chose the fantasy, supernatural, and mystical topic then you must make any of these below as your MAIN character. This away, everyone will not try and enter a piece that has a very vague mention of something fantasy and think they get away with it. Yea, you know who you are! XD

For this topic the LENGTH MUST BE a minimum of 500 words and a maximum of 3,500.

Yes, I am being very generous with the length. (you may thank me later) ANY TYPE OF GENRE IS ALLOWED FOR THIS ONE. Just as long as the main character is one of the below.

*****Main Character Usage: *****

Your main character(s) needs to be one of the following:

GODS AND GODDESS

* Amphitrite: (Greek Goddess) of the sea
* Antheia: (Greek Goddess) of flowers
* Bia: (Greek Goddess) of violence
* Hypnos: (Greed GOD) of sleep
* Mania: (Greek Goddess) of insanity
* Momus: (Greek GOD) of satire and criticism
* Selne: (Greek Goddess) of the moon
* Thanatos: (Greek GOD/DEMON) Of death and mortality

OR

SUPERNATURAL CREATURES

* Angel
* Birds of Paradise - "looks like a peacock"
* Centaur - "half human and half horse beings"
* Chaos Spirit
* Demigods - "half human and half god beings"
* Demons
* Dragons
* Dwarf
* Fairies
* Giants
* Gorgon - "like Medusa with snakes as hair"
* Incubus
* Mermaid

* Nymphs - "any entities in human female form" (this can also break down into a sub category ~ wood nymph, water nymph, air nymph, fire nymph)

* Sirens - "beautiful women who seduce people to their deaths"
* Sea Serpent
* Skin walkers -"are women and men dressed in wolves skins"
* Succubus
* Vampire

* Werewolf (this can be any of the sub categories. ~ were-tiger, were-bear, were-fox, were-panther)

* Witch
* Wizard/ Sorcerer
* Zombie (and that is only listed, because I am curious as to what you guys/girls will come up with! XD)

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO LIKE TO BE INSPIRED BEFORE YOU WRITE:

OPTION NUMBER THREE: CREATIVE OPTION:

For this option you will just pick one of the topics below. The minimum is 1,000 words and the maximum is 2,500. For this you MUST stick to the topics.

1). MUSIC: Pick a song and create a story from it. You must include a link to the song OR the songs name in your author notes so that I know which song to compare your story to. I will be very critical on this topic because I don't particularly favor this way of writing, but my opinion will NOT effect anyone who chooses this option.

2). PICTURE: Pick some kind of picture or painting and write a story based off of that. It can be anything, as long as you include a link of the picture so that I may be able to see where you got your inspiration from. Again, I will be very critical here as well.

LAST AND MOST CERTAINLY NOT LEAST!!!!!

OPTION NUMBER FOUR: CRIME, HORROR, EROTICA

For this option your stories need to be a minimum of 1,000 words and a MAX of 2,500
(I may waver on this, but if your story exceeds my limits then please let me know before you submit it).

1). CRIME: For this option you need to give me your best crime story. I demand it of you! Anything goes in this topic just as long as the plot is based on crime and stays that way. Put a twist somewhere in the story that I will not expect.

2). HORROR: For this option you can be as gory as you like or as descriptive as you like. Take it upon yourself to challenge your abilities. If you make me cringe then your on the right track. I do not care how sick, weird, twisted, or crazed your story gets. Rape is allowed as long as the character getting raped is not a child, all types of murder is allowed; EXCEPT SUICIDE. I've read enough of those to last me a life time already. Lunatics and serial killers wanted, rapists and pyros too!

3). EROTICA/ROMANCE: When I say erotica I mean, sex, love making. I do not mean "dirty erotica". You can write a lovely sex scene, or arousing sex scene and not make it crude. This anything goes here as well. Whatever you put in the story I will read. I do not care if there are lesbians, gays, bisexuals, or man and woman. Also S&M is allowed as well. I'm expanding my areas of reading so I will allow that too. Also any romance storys are welcomed!!!!

PREWRITES ARE ALLOWED!

******* RULES! RULES! RULES! RULES!!!!!*******

A. no bashing other writers
B. Cussing is allowed but don't over do it...you all know what I mean. (if there is more cuss words in your story than actual story you may have a problem)
C. NO SCRIPT FORM
D. ONLY ONLY ONLY 4 entries per person allowed!!!!
E. IF YOU WRITE SOMETHING THAT IS NOT VIEWABLE BY ALL AGES THEN PLEASE LABEL YOUR STORY APPROPRIATELY.
F. put this in your Author Notes so that I will know that you have read my entire contest or just the rules since the listings were so long.

My user name, the option you choose and its title, and the topic.

EXAMPLE: Amanda Vampiress
Option One: Ethical and Philosophical
Topic one: Martin Luther King Jr.

Thank you if you have made it this far. lol If you have questions then post them below. and most importantly HAVE FUN!

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on March 14
  • Rewards: Gold: 350, Silver: 275, Bronze: 200, Honorable mention: 5 people
  • Final notes:
    Hello everyone! I would like to apologise for taking so long to judge the contest. I recently have been of pressure from school; mid-terms and all, and so school had to come first.

    I did get around to reading EVERY entry; like I promised, as well as commenting on everyone's stories. This was my biggest contest so far, and I did enjoy every story that was submitted in my contest. I have seen more wonderfully written stories this time than in any of my other contests, so judging this contest was very hard. I could only choose 8 people to receive an award, though I would give you all one if I could.

    I judged the stories depending on:

    Grammar/spelling errors which goes along with form, whether or not the story went along with my given options, character usage, descriptions, plot structure, and whether everything worked together well.

    I hope you all would take the time to check out the stories that I chose as the winners. All the stories were great and I thank you all for entering my contest.

    I hope you consider entering other contests that I may construct in the future.

    ---Amanda Vampiress

    Wow! So many choices... so little time to write! I could enter a pre-write but since this is for writer's block I think I might feel a little guilty entering something that's not new. Hope I'll be able to get something in this one for you.

    Awww

    I loved this contest until I saw 'prewrites allowed.'
    That's no way to cure writers block. lol
    You should make them write something new, not pimp out their 60+ commented story. I hope someone actually gets inspired to write something new. A strange concept, I know.

    Good luck with the contest.

      Lol Thank you, I suppose I should have removed that line about writers block. This was really just a regular contest. I just like commenting on other peoples stories so the 'writers block' part got put in at 2 am when I wrote up the contest. XD

    Not screwing with my author notes, so I will tell you here. I have three stories so far - and all fit Option 4 - Horror. All three are disturbing in some way, but one is fairly hardcore. The stories are: Strange Love, A Rare Breed and Sapphira.

      Which ever one that you think fits it the best, just put it under that. I'm not going to judge whether the story is mislabeled or not, it just gives me a general idea of what the story is going to consist of before I read it.
