Let's see here...How are you? I'm pretty good.
I want to read some stories. Did you know that?
You're going to have two choices: One, you can pick a song from the list below and write a little something about it, involving it, or inspired by it.
I'm sorry there aren't any crappy bands on there. No Atreyu, Theory of a Deadman, Chemical Romance, etc. In other words there aren't many currently popular bands on the list. My taste in music doesn't suck. Sorry. (har har).
Put the name of the song in your author's notes, just so I know what the hell I'm looking at...
Choice two: Just enter something. (But where's the fun in that?)
Prewrites allowed, and because of this, you'll be reduced to one entrance per person.
Rules:
There are no rules. The imagination doesn't have rules, why should this contest?
One little, tiny thing, though: Don't bore me with some over descriptive piece of crap that you believe to be 'poetic.' I enjoy simple sentences. Like Hemmingway, or McCarthy. So cast out all that seven adjectives per sentence mumbo-jumbo bullshit and just tell me a damn story.
Also, don't make your story emotional for the sole purpose of being emotional. I want stories!
I enjoy pretty much everything. So long as it's written well. My favorite genre is horror. Lovecraft is the only word heavy author I'll make an exception for.
Seriously, everything from children's stories to erotica is allowed. A good story is a good story. Just don't bore me.
Sorry, if I get bored you might not even receive a comment...How rude! I know...
All right, here's my big list of songs most of you probably haven't even heard (at least, according to most of the author's pages I've read):

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on February 4
- Rewards: Gold: 130, Silver: 30, Bronze: 20
- Final notes: Okay, okay...This was killing me for the past few days. Decisions, decisions...'For A Dollar' really struck me. I kept thinking about that one for a while after reading it. A really good story.
'The Jumper' did the same.(Terrific narration and humor too) You get the point by now, eh?
Anyway, people, this ended up being a great contest. For me anyway.
Thanks for entering, and all that other sappy stuff...
Hope to see you all in my next one...

Ooh this looks like my kind of contest! I'm currently writing this creepy, twisted, totally dark re-telling of Alice in Wonderland and I can't wait to enter it
Oh, but it has a little twist in it that I think you might enjoy ^^ and it's my B-Day tommorow...which means I'll make it extra special for you
-
Heh that is an awesome list of songs. Buckethead rules, so does the new GNR CD. And Linkin Park, Jimi, and so on.
-
-
That's it. You have no say in the matter. You're my new best friend.
Chinese Democracy is awesome. I'm pretty sure it's just you and me, though...lol -
-
I freaking love the new GNR, what I have heard of it anyway. So, yeah, you two are not alone. You just had to list Gimme Shelter! Everytime that song gets in my head it won't leave for days.
-
Hahaha.
Yay! New best friend. Good to met you.
-
-
-
Lol, I've always thought that Bob Marley song was called "No blood then no crime" XD *needs to get my ears checked*
Also, if you like Alice Cooper, I recommend his song "This House is Haunted" It's creepy and lovely and morbid ^^
And since you seem to like Regina Spektor, I recommend Samson! I love that girl <3
-
-
Samson on Songs, or Samson on Begin to Hope? Ah, regardless, they're both awesome.
-
-
You have epic musical tastes.
But why Maggie's Farm by Rage Against the Machine and not Dylan? o.o Granted, I've never heard your version, but why improve on an already brilliant thing? :]
I don't know if I can enter, but, seriously, epic musical tastes. -
-
Eh...It sounds a lot angier than Dylan's version...It's probably just me...
-
-
Ahaha.. Legit.
Dylan's one of my heroes, though.
-
-
-
if u think most ppl havent heard of most of these, u need to talk to new people
-
-
You are correct. Apparently. I was way off!
-
-
wow
these are so my songs
haha -
i wont be doing this competition. u sed no crappy bands, and nickelback is on there? oh dear.
-
-
Ah! You caught me! There's also some Evanescense and Lacuna Coil! But at least there's no Avenged Sevenfold...
-
-
*gasp* Lacuna Coil is crappy? Oh dear. Meh, the chick can sing, for that I like 'em.
Though, I'd be interested to hear why you think Avenged Sevenfold is a crap band. Sure the vocals suck, and the lyrics are pretty awful, but I reckons they (in their later stuff) write some pretty good melodies, and their music is quite good (from my view as a musician, not just because I like it, because I think they do actually write some quality music).
-
-
I just think they're awful. Nothing in their music, nothing I say! makes sense to me. There's just no fun to them. Aveneged Sevenfold, I mean.
Lacuna Coil's all right, just really goofey.

-
-
helluva eclectic song list there. although would say the nirvana version of man who sold the world is more definitive than bowies original. sorely tempted to try a story based on that, but entered a pre-write instead.
-
lol franz fernidad.
-
Wowzers... I LOVE your taste in music! You have Sinatra on there! And CCR, Journey, Queen... Dude, I'm gonna have a hard time choosing a song off this list
-
AHHH MY GOSH TOO MANY SONGS! my brain got confused about halfway through. I might enter, the only song I really did know was Cloud Nine by Evanescence and some Linkin Park. Oh and I just wanted to say that the lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots went to school with my Dad. Well, elemantary school. I'm not sure if this is true but my Dad said he used to beat him up in boyscouts. 0.0... I don't know if he's just teasing me or if it's true... but he knew him. Just thought I'd get that out.
-
-
Your dad said he beat up the lead singer of STP in boyscouts?...That's awesome! ROFL
-
-
Wow, that's quite a list of songs, lol. I chose to enter a prewrite instead because you mentioned you liked horror. Mine isn't a particularly gruesome story, but it has many of the same elements. Let me know if it's not what you're looking for.

Thank You!
Thanks so very much for the gold trophy and all the points. I deeply appreciate them.
I'm very pleased you like my little fantasy with Paul McCartney. It has been a dream of mine for years. Probably since his movie, 'Give My Regards To Broadstreet'. If you haven't seen that movie, you should check it out.
Thanks for hosting.
Andy
