Shortfilm contest! Your story into a film! Check description.

I'm an aspiring college filmmaker in Austin, Tx. I am having trouble coming up with great ideas for shortfilms. So, that's where you come in! I want to turn your short story into a short film and give you credit for it on the film (if I decide to make it). What would be cooler than seeing your short piece turn into a visual piece?

PLEASE READ THE REST SO THAT YOU KNOW WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR AND SO I WON"T HAVE TO READ A SUBMISSION THAT DOESN"T FIT. THANKS.

(Ok so you don’t have to write a screenplay of it or anything. I can do that. All I want is your story. If you don’t have one, then feel free to give me a premise for one. Or if you know of one that you have read somewhere on Storywrite, let me know the name and where it is on the site. I’ll contact the writer and see if it’s ok to film it.)

As far as what I’m looking for: I appreciate things that makes the audience THINK. PLEASE no stories revolving around a character committing suicide or something...furthermore, NO PERSONAL REFLECTIONS OR POEMS PLEASE! I need a story and characters. I want something I can give STYLE to and make for a cool watch.

Violence amongst humans is perfectly fine. (Violence from a werewolf or killer trees is not.) Spare me anything that includes elaborate costumes and makeup please. I have a limited budget. I like horror but I'm not gothic. It's just not my style (Donnie Darko=good though). Also, I don't like fantasy or sci-fi AT ALL.

MAKE SURE IT CAN FIT SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 2-15 MINUTES IN LENGTH. I don’t think I’m ready to step outside of anything longer yet .

Thanks and good luck!

You specifically exclude suicide, but would you accept a story about a suicide bomber? When I wrote it I had specifically in mind that it would make quite an cinematic experience.

      yes

yes you certainly can. i just didn't want any contributions that had to do with personal reflections on like a friends suicide or something of that nature. while a poem or reflection is great, it's not much of a 2-15 minute story.

Hi, I just entered a story titled "Summer's Rain," and I realize that this may be thought of as a little too dark. If it leans too far in that direction, notify me and I'll happily remove it.
