Best Storywrite Novel

Winner gets one of these! JK (Porsche Carrera GT)

Hello, Storywrite! Welcome to a competition, the likes of which this site has not yet seen! This is a competition between the novels of Storywrite - which YOU are choosing!

I want to respect the authors and their control over their own creative work. Therefore, the only novels that will appear as options on this page are novels for which I have asked and RECEIVED permission to use as a part of this contest. All short summaries are the authors' own blurbs for their work, also copied with permission. This is a chance for any SW novelist to promote his/herself!

OK, I did not make this clear. My fault. VOTES MUST BE SUBMITTED AS ENTRIES IN THIS CONTEST. The authors' entries are merely there so they can receive the points if they win. If you vote in a comment, I can't count it. Sorry for all the confusion!

So, Storywrite, here's what you're going to do: you're going to pick one of these novels, click the 'New Story' link below, and tell me why it's the best one on Storywrite. Doesn't have to be long, just a few sentences. The author with the most votes(entries supporting their novel)...WINS!

Our contestants stand as follows, so far!

1. 'Tales of an Unwilling Vampiress' by Tiger-Lily

High-school: aggressive deadlines, mysterious exes, conniving arch-nemesis, romantic players, involuntary cheerleading, and . . . a murderous vampire with a hidden agenda?

Emalyn Archer's senior year brings promise to forget a hurtful past . . . until handsome new guy Alan arrives. Soon, love-triangles and catfights are the least of Emmy's problems, because Alan's games go further than the school hallways. Further than murder. It becomes obvious that being a mere human is clearly not enough . . .

2. 'Teenage Love Story' by Dreams of Insanity

Well, that is, until he meets Alexis Smith. This smart, witty, in-your-face girl gives him a run for his money and shows him all he really needs to spice up his new life is the one thing she can provide in endless amounts. Filled with romance, comedy, and high school drama, Teenage Love Story is one ride you won't forget.

3. 'Gridlock' by Chibi-chan

Isirlyn Casey is the 'anonymous' author of Firestone Academy's infamous gossip blog Gridlock, which reports on all the romantic drama and scandal among the rich and socially elite at her school. But when Isirlyn's gossip-hunting gets her involved with boys, werewolves, and hicks, she becomes a player on the very blog she writes. Not to mention that the school's new principal is hot on her tail, eager to expel the author of Gridlock for sullying the school's name. Can Issy protect her identity from the administration and yet settle the romantic dramas that are rising around her? Or is it too late, and is she doomed to lose everything she's been hoping for?

4. 'Quest for the Dire Tome' by Valkyrie

The Dire Tome must be destroyed.
The mythical Shanallar, heroine of a thousand tales, will stop at nothing to finally rid the world of the book that destroyed her life, before it can be used again. Reluctantly, she also guides Geret Branbrey Valan, nephew to the ruler of Vint, his Archivist advisor Sanych elTiera of the Temple of Knowledge, and his entire caravan, halfway across the world, as they seek the tome for its many purported boons. But the thrilling dangers they encounter in exotic locales along their epic journey may make reaching the distant Tome impossible. Will the quest even survive long enough to fight over whether the Tome will returned to Vint or be destroyed forever?

So please, tell me if you've read a novel you think would be appropriate for this contest, and I'll contact the author for permission. Don't forget - this is an opportunity for ALL Storywrite novels. The qualifications to be a contestant in this contest are:

1) You must be 'popular', defined as having three or more regular readers.
2) Your story must be a 'novel', defined as having three or more chapters.
3) Your story must be appropriate for most readers on SW - no erotica, no dark themes (e.g., cutting), minimal swearing.

That's it! Hope to see this contest take off!

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on January 13
  • Rewards: Gold: 100, Silver: 50, Bronze: 50
  • Final notes:
Hey, everyone. I know standard procedure is to comment on all entries, but considering that most of you were voting for others, I didn't think it was necessary. So here's the lowdown:

In first place, with twelve votes...

'Tales of an Unwilling Vampiress' by Tiger-Lily! Congrats!

In second place, with six votes...

    'Teenage Love Story' by DreamsofInsanity!

And in third place, with two votes...

    'Gridlock' by Chibi-chan!

Congratulations to the winners, and thank you to all the authors for supporting this new contest idea. Hopefully we can do another one of these sometime in the future, and there will be more than twenty votes. *sweatdrop* And authors, don't forget to thank the people who voted for you!

    Have a good one!

    Faolan

    Definetly TUV

I vote for Tales of an Unwilling Vampiress by Tiger Lily!

It's an awesome novel that keeps you on your toes, and always keeps your attention. It's very detailed, and the way she describes the characters makes them seem so real. This is probably my favorite work on here. Tiger Lily definetly put a lot of work into TUV and deserves to win this contest.

I would check with Faolan and make sure your vote's not supposed to be an entry in the contest. I'm a little confused, myself...

DANG IT, FAOLAN! MAKE IT CLEAR! XD JK

Hm, I guess it would HAVE to be a comment here. Cause he says "up there" (not Heaven!) that the author wins gold/silver/bronze, according to most votes. So a story entry with a vote wouldn't be able to win cause there'd be more than one for the winning novel.

Wow, I just sounded like one of those NASA satellite-theory scientist dudes. o.o

If you're an author in this contest, you only need to enter a story saying 'I'm the author', or something to that effect. That way you'll get the points for gold/silver/bronze. You don't need a vote. Title your story with your username. I'll pass this on thru IM.

Hey, Faolan, you might want to include a link to each novel's list or something so that people can go read them if they want to. Just a thought.

I'm also looking to write a column when this contest is finished that will be a ready-made list of SW novels for people to go to. I think these novels will make it onto that list.

-- kidding ... it was a long time ago, anyhow.

My vote - I'm still confused how you vote here - is for TUV. Best darned story I've ever read.
Then comes Quest for the Dire Tome.

    TUV!

I vote for Tales of an Unwilling Vampiress by Tiger-Lily!

She's a great author, I love the concept, the novel is FANTASTIC, and I really want her to win. Even though I didn't get the chance to be in the TUV group, this is the BEST choice for a novel. Go, Tales of an Unwilling Vampiress! Go, Tiger-Lily!
