So, the way this will go is: you post a comment asking for a prompt. You may choose from the following:
Picture Prompt - Pretty self-explanatory
You can tell me what kind of picture you'd like (i.e. fantasy, romance...) but there's no guarantee you'll get what you want.
Quote Prompt - I'll give you a quote or short poem to be inspired by or to use in your story. Or both.
Title Prompt - Simply ask for a title.
Something Prompt - This prompt is easier to use if combined with another prompt, but it doesn't have to be. I'll give you random things (i.e. a pencil, a fire hydrant, etc. They'll be more interesting, though
) and you use them somewhere in your story.
Paragraph Prompt - I'll give you a paragraph, and again, you can specify what type you'd prefer.
Plot Prompt - I give you the summary of a plot without an ending. You elongate it and supply an ending.
Song Prompt - Tell me what kind of music you like, and I'll do my best to give you a prompt you can use...if you're lucky
Random Prompt - Feeling lucky? I'll pick a type of prompt at random and present you with it. It all depends on my mood at the time... So there are your choices. You can choose more than one if you like, but please don't ask for more than three.
Now for...THE RULES!!!!

1. Minimal swearing. A little is fine, but I've got the filter on, and the * bunnys* annoy me to no end

2. No erotica or adult content. I can't read it, and if I can't see it, I can't judge it. Automatic DQ.

3. Just because I
messing around with those of you who are too lazy to read the whole rules, write the words "Darth Vader Was Framed" in your A/N's. 4. Rule four was eaten by a chinchilla named Fred.
5. I don't know why I'm putting this, but...nO WrItTiNg LiKe ThIs!!! And no text-talk!!
6. Gay/lesbian accepted, but not encouraged. Same with fanfics.
7. It would by nice if you put your username in your A/N's.
Well...I think that's about it!
Hope I get lots of awesome entries super soon!!! And I will comment on all of them. Commenting is fun Happy holidays everybody!

Emma!
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on February 6
- Rewards: Gold: 153, Silver: 76, Bronze: 52, Honorable mention: 2 people
- Final notes: So I finally judged it! Sorry it took so long, guys. I extended it a few times to see if anyone else would enter, but finally I accepted that I had all I was going to get. Still...not saying that's a bad thing! All your stories were truly amazing. You brave people who chose to accept my prompts really outdid yourselves! I had to add an extra honorable mention so that you could all get at least some sort of reward; you deserve it! Really, really great job everybody, it was a pleasure to read your work. See ya round!

The Oncoming Storm
Yeah, it's not very good, I know, and if you hate it I'll be happy to give you another. Good luck!
-
-

-
-
Here you go!
http://pygar.deviantart.com/art/Midnight-Music-106409391
I'll get you another if you can't get anything from it.
-
-
Hola. May I please have a...quote prompt I suppose. Porfavor and Gracias. =)
-
-
Here you are:
"Almost every species in the Universe has an irrational fear of the dark; but they're wrong, because it's not irrational..."
If you don't like it, I'll give you another. -
-
Gracias, gracias, I couldn't have asked for any greater quote. Hmmm, this is from Dr.Who am I correct?
-
-
Yes it is
I was going to do an edit and say that but my computer is being super slow and I didn't feel like waiting for it to load. I
Doctor Who!! I'll stop now because once I get started I can't stop, LOL.
Anyway hope to hear a great story!
-
-
I'd love to hear you talk about Doctor Who. And I'm working on the story right know, and I hope you'll enjoy it.
-
-
-
-
-
can i have a something prompt???
-
-
Sure...let's see...I'm going to give you 7 things and you have to use AT LEAST three of them in your story. You can combine it with the pic I already gave you if you want.
1. A bright pink wig; 2. A battered old copy of "Night Shift" by Stephen King; 3. a purple teddy bear; 4. A jar full of crazy straws; 5. A set of plastic vampire teeth that are dyed blue; 6. A soda can full of dirt; 7. A Websters unabridged dictionary that has colored tissues squeezed between random pages between L and R.
So there are your things. I tried to make them as random as possible. I think I succeeded.
Good luck!
-
-
I might be interested in a plot prompt but with the holidays... are you planning to extend this contest past the 2 weeks?
-
-
I probably will, yeah, as I know the holidays are hectic for a lot of people...
-
-
Great! Then can I please have a plot and maybe even a something (just for the fun of it) prompt? Thanks!
-
-
Write me a story about someone (you can choose the gender) who has died and come back to life. Not as a ghost, as an actual person. He/she is an outcast now because everyone is afraid of him/her. He/she figures that if they get to the bottom of exactly why they're still here, they can fix things. What happens next?
I can always give you another if you'd like. However if you don't like it, I may have to use it...
-
-
nope, it's perfect right up my alley
-
oh yeah... any word limit? (upper limit, I don't have a problem with lower ones, but I tend to write longer short stories
)
-
-
No word limit, but don't write a novel
-
-
-
-
-
-
plot me.
-
-
Write me a story about a girl who has a world of fantasy in the woods behind her new house. Tell me how she finds out about the world, how she copes with her discovery, and how she hides it from everyone.
Yeah I knoew it's really stupid but it's the first thing that came to me. If you want I'll give you a new one.
-
-
ummm
Can I have a title, please? -
-
Sure.
Your title is:
Once In A Blue Moon.
I'll give you another if you don't like it.
-
-
I would like a paragraph prompt. I dont write fantasy like ever i only have like 2 stories in my whole colection that are fantasy. I can write comedy pretty good, but im best at realistic fiction. Problem solving i can do, not so good at the whole make up break up scene
-
-
OK let's see what I can come up with...
Why was I here? I asked myself for the umpteenth time. I stared grimly through the glass doors, thinking of the irony. Just last week, I would have ridiculed this type of place. Of course, that was before my world turned upside down. Sighing, I glanced down at the business card that I clutched tightly in my right hand, looked through the dirty doors once more, and pushed them open.
That was really random
-
-
Song prompt please ummm as long as its not by like scremo bands or a band no one knows about
-
-
How about...
"Viva La Vida" by Coldplay? -
-
oh yes, great song
-
-
-
Can I have a plot prompt? Oh and how do you edit things?
-
-
Hey sorry it took so long and yes here is your plot:
Write me a story about someone whose boyfriend/girlfriend is a vampire. Despite that, he/she still loves them, and is determined to keep his/her secret from those who may not be so open. Tell me how he/she keeps it, and the consequences when someone finds out.
Hope you liked it. I can always give you another if you don't. And to edit things, there's a button under 'owner options' that says 'edit.'
-
-

Your sentence is:
"My eyes opened blearily, the light that came to greet them nearly blinding me and bringing up a very significant question -- where was I?"
OK, there you go!

OK, for the Something prompt, I'm going to give you 7 random things and you have to use AT LEAST 3 in your story.
1) A teapot with a huge crack down the middle; 2) A yellowed comic strip about a mouse and a cup of coffee; 3) An iPod that is believed to be possessed; 4) A neon blue guitar; 5) A picnic basket packed with dynamite; 6) An impossibly tangled pile of wires; 7) A brochure for a ritzy resort.
Your random prompt is going to be a song, and it's going to be "Live High" by Jason Mraz (I'm listening to it right now).

-
Yeah! Sorry it's so late. I'm going to extend the contest another week for you.
For the something prompt, I am going to give you 7 things and you must use AT LEAST 3 of them in your story.
1) A packet of polka-dotted electrical pencils; 2) A candle whose wick never runs out; 3) A clock that has various colored kazoos as numbers; 4) A mouse pad that features the letters of the alphabet; 5) A used-up tube of strawberry Chapstick; 6) A shiny silver espresso machine; 7) A keychain with a battered flashlight on it.

Plot Prompt?
may I please have a plot prompt? But something interesting like horror or mystery! Thanks!
Oh and I only got next ten hours. -
-
Firstly, the contest has been extended one more week to give you some time.
Second, your prompt is:
[insert name here] has kept his/her power of precognition a secret since s/he was small, but now that s/he is older, it is becoming harder and harder to conceal. It doesn't come as a surprise when two people find out - two very different people indeed. Which will s/he choose to follow?
-
-
music
Can I get a music prompt? (I listen to everything, and if I've never heard of it, I'll find it and listen to it haha) -
-
ok...let's see...your song is "Supermassive Black Hole" by Muse.
-
-
=o
i changed my mind, earlier you gave me a plot prompt and i was wondering if i could possibly have a something prompt? thanks =] -
-
Sure! If you want, you can use both, too.
For something prompts, I give you 7 things and you must use AT LEAST 3 of them in your story.
1) An ice cube made of Mountain Dew; 2) An empty carton of skim milk; 3) A bright orange wetsuit; 4) A hunk of cheese that fell from the sky; 5) A very colorful sombrero; 6) A complete collection of Nancy Drew books; 7) A million dollars in counterfeit money.
-
-
Could I please have a paragraph prompt? That or a picture one, fantasy preferably. Thank you very much.
-
-
I'll give you both.
Picture: http://th07.deviantart.com/fs10/300W/i/2006/116/4/4/Reflection_of_fantasy_by_shonensan.jpg
Paragraph:
It hadn't occurred to me before. I suppose it was too simple, too obvious--until now, I'd overlooked it. But as I stood between the two of them, their angry breathing the only sound, all I could think about was how much trouble would have been saved if I hadn't been so ignorant.
For the paragraph, you can change it a little if you need to, to fit your writing style, and you can change it from first to third person if you want, but it must be recognizable when I read it. -
-
Thank you, this is a great prompt. I will save a spot and get it as soon as I can. Things are busy, so i'm hoping I'll be able to get it typed on time. But, either way, I'll probally be able to make a great story out of this, if my muse decides to cooperate with me...
Love the picture, love the prompt, thank you ^_^
-
-
-
May I get a song and picture prompt (for the picture I'll take anything asian esque and fantasy like and for the song I'll take anything but country, rap and total screamo)
-
-
Sure!
Song: "Going Under" - Evanescence
Picture: http://th01.deviantart.com/fs12/300W/i/2006/280/3/1/Autumn_Fantasy_by_Libellula.jpg -
-
Awesome thanks, I can totally think of something for the song as for the picture...it may only be a small connection to the story if thats alright ^^;
-
-
That's okay...you don't even have to use it if you don't want to.
