Humanity

Last night one sentence went trough my mind and couldn`t get it out: Man invented the guilotin and the piano.

Than I had the idea of a contest. I invite you to define "The human nature" in one sentence. ATENTION! I said ONE SENTENCE and one sentence only!

Rules:
1 One sentence not one paragraph!
2 It doesn`t have to start with "Humanity is..." or "Man is..." (be at least a little original.... am I asking too much?)
3 One entry per person only

And the last one....

4 Be creative! Use your brain!

Later note: I know that it`s hard to come up with an original definition but at lest try. Think a little outside the box. Stop saying "Humans are demons", "humanity is love" or "humans are the greatest creation of god". Do you know how many people allready said that? Try to come up with something even if at a first glance it sounds stupid or nonsense.

Ok...I`ll give you an example of what I`m looking for:

In his way home Abel meets Cain. (Abel=life, Cain=death, home=primordial being, eternity)

A silk sock in a muddy boot.

Now you have no excuse for writing crappy explanations

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on December 13, 2008
  • Rewards: Gold: 100, Silver: 25, Bronze: 10, Honorable mention: 2 people
  • Final notes:
The contest "Humanity" is finaly over
This was the hardest contest I ever had to judge. I didn`t hove as mani entrys as I expected but better less and good than more and bad.

I had a hard time deciding the finalists and I`ll probably have remorse after I give the trophys but that`s life

So the honorable mentions go to:

1 Watching: "We sit at home watching the clock, not noticing that we’re wasting time waiting for nothing".
2 The Human Nature, as Definded By Yours Truely: "No matter how hard you try, you can't go back."
3 Life... :"Yesterday was a dream, tomorrow is a vision, and today is a gift "
4 Humanity is...: "Like a key-wound clock; ticking relentlessly and loyally towards an indefinite future. "

    Now for the winers

The bronse goes to Supreme Capacity : "Supreme capacity was fulfilled long ago and now the algae overflow, leading to destruction of coral and to the decay of salt; basically killing the ocean."

The silver goes to A sentence full of Human Nature: "Away from the torment of his peers, the young boy skipped across the busy street, alone and unaware, into the safe, protective arms of his mother."

And finally the gold trophy goes to *drums*

Inocence lost: " The blood dripped from the child's ice cream cone into the sewer. "

Congratulations to the winers and thank you all for entering.

Sounds to me like you want a metaphor describing Humanity more than a definition of it, correct?

If at all possible, could you explain what it is that you're looking for? I would like to improve my entry to suit the needs of the contest. Thanks.

I`m looking for a definition of human nature using one or more metaphors. I want something original, a new idea, something that you think that it had never been said before. Something to blow my mind and live me thinking.
What I am looking for above all is originality....
