A is also for Alphabet
All right folks here's my first contest in a series of 26! Hopefully I can get through them all without going crazy! As I'm a pretty slow reader I'll probably do one a month or less, so it will take a while to get through all of them. Some will be easy some will be tough but each will be different from the last and hopefully a little unique as far as contests go.
A is for Animals
I'd like you to write from an animal's perspective. The story can be about anything really as long as we see it through an animal's eyes. Any animal you like, I'd prefer real ones though.
Brownie points for a story about two animals of the same species falling in love or an animal getting revenge on a human (not necessarily killing the human). Oh yeah and also for something based on the picture (dog, cat and rat living together in peace).
Important; this animal has to have been born as it is, no "human turned into animal" type things.
General guidelines;
1. I don't like rules or to DQ but if you don't stick with what I'm asking for you certainly won't win and my comments might get a little harsh.
2. No genre restriction.
3. More than 500 words less than say 5000 (can go a little shorter or longer if it was really interesting). I don't read too fast so if it's too long I might not finish it before the contest ends and then it won't win.
4. I don't care for fan fics but if you must at least put what it's based off in your AN
5. try to make it kid friendly, no erotica please (it's just not right with animals
).
6. Bashing of any kind is not nice.
7. I don't mind swearing but again try to keep it kind of kid friendly.
8. And even though you might be really excited about the subject, use proper grammar. I am a bit of a grammar nitpicker (not quite to the nazi stage yet) so expect me to correct you a little in my comments. Write however you want to, but if it's unreadable it won't win.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on November 24, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 150, Bronze: 75, Honorable mention: 6 people
- Final notes: Thank you all for entering! This was really great! I got some very descriptive and imaginative entries. So many of you like killing off your poor defenseless animals. I think next time I run a contest I'll ask for only happy endings. Anyway despite that, there wasn't one I didn't like, which makes giving trophies so very hard. In the end I chose the ones that caused the greatest emotions in me.
I had a hard time choosing but a few of you stood out.
First place made me laugh out loud, plus I love dogs
Second place was quite a beautiful story which drew me right into it.
Third place was the hardest, I had four that tied for it, but unfortunately one trophy. So I chose the one that let me soar with the eagles.
HM's are in no particular order but each one was a wonderful story which let me see straight through the eyes of the animal and really exemplified what I was looking for in the contest. If I didn't chose you for HM, it's not that I didn't love your story (there were a couple that if I didn't stick to the rules I set would have placed) I enjoyed reading each one.
So thank you all for giving me some wonderful reading material and I hope you enter my next contest. Until then...Keep writing!
