Honesty, Love, Words, and Letters

Hey! I am Tyler Drescher, your contest host!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
First, what we all want to know is what the rewards are, well for most of you at least.
1st. Gold 100 points
2nd. Silver 50 points
3rd. Bronze 25 points
~I would like to give out a lot more rewards, so please donate. Even if it is just 5 points it would be awesome.
+I would like to thank Kevin for donating points just for this contest!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Your objective: Choose one of the following options-

1. Write a letter to your best friend and tell them how much you appreciate him or her and all other things you feel about them.

2. Write a love letter to your crush asking them out. (Hey, we all need to practice this, right guys?)

3. Write a love letter to your girlfriend/boyfriend explaining how you feel about him or her.

4. Write a letter to a soldier or a veteran who is/was fighting in a war.

5. Write a letter to yourself saying all of the good things that you feel about yourself. (Whenever you are down you can always look back on this)

6. Write a letter to a friend explaining a tragedy that just happened in your life.

7. Write an apology letter to your enemy. You can either forgive them, or you can ask them to forgive you.

8. Write a letter to Kevin and thank him, praise him, and make him feel great about all of the hard work he has put into all of the websites.

9. Write a letter to someone on this website you get along with very well.

10. Write a letter to your mom/dad and tell them how you feel.

11. It was brought to my attention that contestants should be able to write a "story". Considering this is a STORY contest, it would make sense. So everyone is allowed to write a story, just as long as if it is about the letter.

12. No letters more than 1300 words (Except for those who have already entered before 3/30/06.

-If you have any ideas for any other options let me know. I will consider any ideas.

RULES! (dramatic music plays)

1. No sex, erotica, or any of that. Make it suitable for a 14 year old like me and all other kids who come across this awesome contest!

2. Mild cuss words are allowed, but NO bunnies are allowed. Cuss words should only be used to show emotion. Use these words maturely.

3. One bunny in your story, I will notify you, ask you to remove that bunny, but if you do not comply with my rules I will disqualify you. I have only had to do that two times out of the contests I have hosted (around 15 contests I think).

4. Write the option you chose in your author's notes. If you forget to do this, of course I will let you know, so you can write it in there. If I have to DQ for not following this rule, I promise I will still leave constructive criticism.

5. So that I know you read the rules, again, follow rule #4. Also explain in a sentence or two who inspires you to do the things you love.

(The rest are more like suggestions, hints, and advice)

6. Don't write to impress me, write to impress yourself. Believe it or not, everyone who does that will do ten times better than usual.

7. Don't be afraid to throw in some jokes or some sweet comebacks. I have a good sense of humor.

8. Don't ever be afraid to be CREATIVE! Throw in some metaphors, make it something authentic, just like a Martin Luther King Speech. (Check out the words to the "I have a dream" speech- pretty powerful)

9. Stay true to yourself.

10. Use your background and colors wisely. First impressions are important.

JUDGING:

I will be the only judge.

I will add you to a finalists list, and those who make the finals, will receive these scores.

I will score you on:

Creativity 10
Originality 10
Emotion/Passion 10
Showmanship 10
Mechanics 10

-)))Here is an explanation for each of the categories and some hints to success(((-

CREATIVITY: One of the most important elements of a story. When it comes to writing, the symbols all over your story looks cute and adorable but the best thing to do is be more creative with your words. If you throw symbols in there and the symbols are related to the words, then leave me a note in your author's comments, so I can acknowledge your creativity.

ORIGINALITY: The most important element in a story. Before you even write your letter/story- not only in this contest, but every time you write- ask yourself "Is this idea original?" Then your answer is completely up to you. I understand is hard to stand out in the whole world, so that is why I am looking for the most original in the CONTEST not the most original out of the whole WORLD then most of the people would probably get low scores. lol

EMOTION/PASSION: It is often easy to SEE how the author feels just by using common sense, BUT every writers goal is to get their audience to feel the way as he or she does. -so if the author gets me to feel the way he/she does then they will get at least a 7 in this category.

SHOWMANSHIP: Everyone has a first impression. Use your backgrounds and colors maturely and usefully. Believe it or not, but first impressions have a lot to do with what people think of what you wrote. Try your best to make your story look authentic. (((Also, make sure people can read your story without highlighting it.)))

MECHANICS: This has to do with spelling, grammar, punctuation, fluency, etc... This doesn't really mean much to me, so don't worry about this, but please use the spell checker, it always helps.

~All of these elements are important, so that is why I will let you know your score when I am done judging your story/letter. If you do not agree with my score, be polite, and kindly make your point across to me, and maybe I will change my mind. (It depends how convincing you are) -but if you push the wrong button then consider that the eject button for getting out of this contest.

Deep down I want to help everyone. I am not perfect, so feel free to look at my work and comment on mine too.

Thank you for those who read this. I am sure all of you found this to be DEFINITELY worth your time. (I hope so. lol) Now get writing those who want to enter!

    great idea

    I want to know if it should be in letter form, or maybe a letter tucked into a story?

    You can do whatever you want, just as long as if there is a letter in the story. Thanks for asking me this. I am going to add this to the options.

    I seem to be having problems with editing my story/letter to include the option number in the author's comments. It is for option number 9, inspired by my good friend Page, also an author on SW. I will try to remember to return at a later stage to attempt the editing again. In the meantime...

    Keep well.

    Lacyte,

    I am going to let people who have a hard time editing get away with breaking that rule, well, because it was an accident! We all know the site has been going through changes... so I completely understand. What I am mostly worried about is your letter, which is what I am looking forward to reading. Everything is all right, don't worry about anything.

    See ya!

    Oh yeah! Don't worry about the option rule... a lot of people are having the same problem you just had. Don't worry everything is ok.

    I have a "tragedy" that just happened to me recently. but do i have to write a friend about it? i have an idea for a story or whatever about maybe somebody finding the letter or whatnot...but the letter would be my words and my feelings. just comment back so i can know if this is acceptable or not. awesome idea for a contest though

      Of course, that is great. Just put in your author's comments that you did option 11 because you wrote a story.

    I liked this contest. It was a good idea to have it so varied while still sticking to a main theme. I wish everyone luck in the contest! ~Blue
