“Ladies and gentlemen, I give you... the centre of the Earth!”
Have you ever wonder whether or not if there was really another world in the centre of the world, and that the writing of Jules Verne’s science-fiction novel “Journey to the Centre of the Earth” was true?
Just like Brendan Fraser’s character in the movie, you can take the adventure and discover your own world underneath the Earth’s surface. For those who don’t know the story, the movie is about Trevor (Brendan Fraser) and his nephew, Sean (Josh Hutcherson) who travels to Iceland to solve the disappearance of Trevor's brother, Max. Trevor believes that his brother might have gone to find the centre of the Earth, being a Vernian and believing in the writing of Jules Verne. Led by tour guide Hannah (Anita Briem), the group accidently finds a portal to the centre of the Earth! Once there, they discover amazing sights and never-before-seen creatures, realising that everything in the book is real. But the temperature beneath the Earth is rising fast. They’ve got to make it back to the surface before it’s too late!
For this contest I want you to write your own journey to the centre of the Earth. Your entry has to be on a volcano, any volcano you want, that will lead you through volcanic tubes that leads you down to the centre of the Earth. Once your characters have reach the centre, make up your own world, creating things that might be extinct or they might not even exist.
Make the story about 2000 words long if you can. If you want to entry more than once, you can, but only three entries per person. You can write about the journey to the place that you go to and then write the second entry of what was underneath the volcano. If you decide to do a third one, which is optional, the 3rd one is the escape where you have to find away out of the centre of the Earth. But when you do write 3 entries, it must be the same story, continuing onto the next part. If you do just one entry, just try and put everything in one story.
If you do three entries, I will only be entering one of them in the finalist.
Check out the trailers here to get an idea of what the story is about if you haven't already seen the movie or heard of the story:

Or, ya know, you could read the book and actually get a decent story out of it. Ladies and Gentlemen, never trust the movies.
-
-
Yes, you can do that too. I haven't read the orignal story, only the movie novel. But I know that I have seen the orignal movie to it.
-
-
Haven't seen the movie or read the book, but I'm entering!
-
-
If you ever do plan to see the movie, you should go. It's good.
-
-
um... wait, can each person do more then one entry?
-
-
I have change the entry details a bit and I have decided that you can write up to three entries, but it must follow on with the story you have written. The details are on the contest page if you want to find out more.

Hehehe sounds like fun, I am going to enter =P
-
-
Yeah, I knew that you would like to enter, especially when you make up strange things sometimes and you do have a good imagination. Just don't make it too scary for me! Anyway, have you seen the movie? I have seen it 2 times already, but I haven't seen it in 3D yet. My sister has a crush on the guy that plays Sean. And I made that picture too. I made it yesterday. I was very bored when I came up with this contest.
-
-
Hehehe yay *hugs* I promise to make it not scary for you...anyway I think it will turn out more funny than scary (hopefully) I have seen it twice too and really now.
-
-
That's good. I know that sometimes you do sometimes write something scary, but I do enjoy the funny stuff you come up with.
-
I want that glowbird from the movie, but it's a shame that it doesn't exist.
-
And that rollercoast ride that they went on in the mines kind of remind me of the Superman Ride at Movie World. I want to go on that ride again.
-
-
Hahaha I know eh. I want the bird too, since its so cute and also, do I have to make sure all characters return to the surface or can I leave one in the centre of the Earth?
-
-
It's up to you. You can make something different from the movie I guess since they all make it out alive but you want to leave someone down there, that's fine with me.
-
-
Sweet...mine is going to be similar yet diffrent =3
Hehehehe

Hehe, I played this game in disney sea. My mum was screaming when we burst out of the fake volcano. THe ride was based on the movie.
-
-
I so want to go there.
-
-
Too bad, I think I had to go to Japan to play that.
