For all of you who really really want to enter my Novel contest but don't have your works finished yet, there's good news: you can enter it here!
Yep, that's right; I want ONLY UNFINISHED NOVELS here. I don't care how much you've got or haven't got written (Okay, I do; see Rules below). I just want to not have the end.
The catch here is that you must intend for it to eventually become a novel, so no unfinished short stories. My cutoff for what qualifies and what doesn't is gonna be a bit fuzzy, but that's the nature of the beast when dealing in unfinished business. I want your entries only if the final product will be, in your best estimation, a minimum of 50,000 words. I'll give quite a bit of leeway on this, because "unfinished" by definition does not lend itself to future word-count prognostication. But if it seriously doesn't feel like it's going to get anywhere near that length, I'll let you know and DQ the entry.
However, as with my finished-novel contest, I want to avoid a few topics. Here again is my List of NO:
NO:
vampires/werewolves
gay/les/bi/yaoi
erotica/rape
anything intentionally depressing and dreary
horror
Even if your novel is just getting started and therefore your entry is very short, I don't want to go there. If I come across a story like this, I'll DQ you.
I am particularly fond of fantasy worlds, and I enjoy sci-fi as well. Spies and mysteries are always fascinating to me, especially the British type of mysteries, both modern and older. Historical fiction is great. Any other genres, including fanfic, are accepted as well of course, unless I forgot something in my List of NO.
Now, the RULES!
1. Proper spelling/grammar/punctuation please. This means no chatspeak, unless your characters are actually IN CHAT.
2. MINIMUM WORD COUNT: 5,000. I need enough to give me a clear idea of what's going on. MAXIMUM WORD COUNT: whatever you've got! (okay, within reason)
3. Expect a comment. I like to comment.
4. Please either post your first chapter/prologue (with the rest in a list at the bottom), or give me the whole shebang all at once, if you have it. If you've got it chaptered, I won't likely comment on every chapter, but if I have a question or plot comment for that part, I'll jot it in. Final comments will come at the end of the novel.
5. In your AN, put something cool about one of your family members so I know you're hanging on my every word. Er. Rule.
6. There is no rule six.
7. Points will go up as I get the good stuff! Not kidding; I have a LOT of points!
8. I might have to extend this just so I can get it all read. I will read every entry and comment at least at the end, though!
All right, that's it.

wow you've got a lot on the "no" list.
that's pretty sucky. -
Ah, dang, fantasy...but no vamps/werewolves?? I blame Meyer for ruining the reputations of those legendary creatures. T_T
-HT -
-
I would blame all people who overuse vampire stories. Most vampire genres have been literally done to death.
-
-
Still, I love to read & write vampire stories... I'm addicted, I guess.
-
-
-
I know you have read my first chapter already, but that wasn't a "NO" on your list. Feel free to read any other chapter. There are 66 altogether and will be growing soon. It's almost finished and it is over 50,000 words.
-
Ugh. My novel is in several parts, each about 1500 words long.
-
-
Just stick them all in a list, if you haven't already, and enter the first chapter. that way, the list will be showing at the bottom of the page and I'll just be able to click happily from one chapter to the next.
-
-
Aww, I would have loved to enter Conner, but you've said no werewolves......(there is more to the novel than just them
-
um what's a novel?
-
I have none of mine posted.
None. Can I still enter?
And... If yes to question one,
Is it only no Vampire/Werewolf stories?
Or nothing to do with either one at all?
-
-
If you're gonna whip out 5000 words of a new novel idea on the spot, more power to ya. But yes, I don't want to read about vampires or werewolves either one, especially if they're the good guys and all lovey mushy. Those creatures are bad guys. And I don't want horror in my contest either. So that really precludes them from this particular contest.
-
-
ok i found your unfinished novel's contest i just put chapter 2 on to my story and chapter 1 and 2 are almost tow thousand words long so assuming that all 8 chapters of my story are 800-1000 words long do you think i could enter this contest or other unfinished novels contests?
-
-
If it's over 5000 words, you can enter it here. As for other unfinished novel contests, you'll need to check the rules for each one first; everyone who makes one gets to make their own rules.

my Summer of Chaos entry
Just wanted to let you know ahead of time BEFORE you read my entry...that I appologize if it seems a bit cheezy at first, or at all. I began writing it back in 8th grade...and rewrote alot of it my 10th grade year. So if you find it cheesy, I'm sorry, and it will be worked on in the future! (My writing skills have been improved since then!) ^^ -
my entry is about two hundred words short... but i noticed that a lot of other entries were very short, so is that ok??
-
-
The other "short" entries are just chapter ones or prologues, with links to the rest of the story. If it's just a couple hundred words' difference, that is fine, as long as it meets the other criteria for the contest.
-
-
you`ve got some over 30,000 words storys inhere. when will you get the time to read all of them.
I mean three cheers for being so pacient.*lol* -
-
Lol, I've already read them all.
-
-
Thanks for the bronze
