This is an easy one with ample rewards. Pretend I’m a literary agent and write me a query or a short synopsis of your novel or novelette or shortstory convincing me to represent your work.
Remember you are 'selling' your work by showing me how good it is and how well you can write.
First prize 300, Second prize 200, Third prize 100, Honorable mention 50ea.
1/ Please be serious—make certain you choose the correct form. Then tell me which it is at the top of the page.
2/ Turn on your spell check and use the proper writing style. Small letters starting a sentence, u for you, i for I and other nonsense gets a quick pass.
3/ Keep your work under 1000 words.
Contest ends September first.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on September 6, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 5 people
- Final notes: This was way more difficult than I thought. My first contest and while only a couple of you followed the few simple rules I set forth, all of the entries made me want to read more of your work.
I had to select the winners on how accurately they presented a Query or Synopsis since this was the fairest way.
You are all winners though so keep writing.

Well I don't drink coffee, so maybe that's the problem. *laughs* Actually, I've been so busy with work lately, I haven't had time to work on anything except getting my SW class in order. I may have some time tonight, though.
I have a story in mind that I would really like to write a query letter for anyways.
-
Hey Geri - can I write a query for a story I haven't finished yet? I have a fun one in mind...
-
-
-
Wooo! Will be doing this.
-
-
So
what's holding you up
.
It's such a small offering with good profits. It's been extended until Sept.3--give it a go!
-
-
sounds interestingly fun....bookmarked
-
-
Well
what's keeping you
. I can't award those points if I don't have a winner. I have extended it until Sept.3--please give it a try.

What do you mean by the correct form?
I would really like to enter, so could someone explain so that I can enter!
Thanks! -
-
If you send me a query, make it a business letter and use proper English.
If you send a synopsis do it like you would a book report, making sure you show how it will start, the meat of the story with the important characters, and show how it will end.
The ending is as important as the beginning. Keep in mind you want me to sell your work to a publisher.
