...In Fairies!
Haha, so what with the sudden influx of vampire stories, something quite unbelievable has happened. I have become thoroughly exhausted with them! I'm tired of vampires, I love them, I do, but enough already.
I want to hear about fairies. They're beautiful, mysterious, magical, maniacal, and everything I want in a modern day fantasy. Stories about them abound. There is no lack of evidence towards them, yet not many people really believe in them. They've been sighted, transformed, and explained throughout tales for hundreds of years.
But not anymore. Reports of children being kidnapped and replaced in the night by strange child-like replicas no longer shake people with fear. Stories about fair maidens and lads robust with youth suddenly vanishing no longer have people daydreaming about their seductive captors. Tales of friendly invisible entities cleaning homes are...gone!
This cannot remain so.
Bring the fairies back. I implore you. Make them walk invisibly next to us once again. Let me feel one wrap its ephemeral wings around me while I blindly go on doing what humans do. Make them into whatever you want, just make them magical. Give them courts, divide them by the seely and unseely, give them great and terrible powers. Or make them weak and dying and in need of help. I don't care, just bring them back to me, to the world.
Yes, for this contest, all I want is a Modern Fairy Tale.
Rules:
Nothing over 3000 words unless you're an absolutely great writer
No poems.
Please try to use proper grammar and spelling? Please? I might not read it if it's badly written.
That's all, have fun. Let yourself be seduced by the magic.

Awesome. I will try and submit. And I totally agree. Magic and faeries just isn't what people care too much about these days..The Seelie and Unseelie Court. I love it! It's good to know that others know what that is.

Other people on StoryWrite are getting tired of vampires??!?!?
