Do you have a soundtrack to your life? Are there certain songs or pieces of music that immediately evoke memories of a special time, special place, special person?
Everyone has a soundtrack somewhere, from the first songs you remember singing, your first single/download, first album, first dance, first kiss, first break up... whatever. If I were ever sent to that mythical desert island I'd have to pick the soundtrack to my life and explain why, which is exactly what I want you to do.
I'd like you to write a magazine feature article on the soundtrack to your life, no fiction or poetry please. Tell me what tracks you'd take and why. Now, of course I don't just want a list, explain, convince me why these are the most important pieces of music in your world.
As it's an article, I'm going to set a word limit of 800-1500 words. Extra kudos given for variety of sentence openings and structure and obviously your piece has to hook and engage the reader in a 'lively and informative style' - ok, I know I sound like an exam syllabus now.
So rules:
1.Clear, well structured prose please.
2.Check all grammar and spelling.
3.No swearing - it's not really necessary.
4.No erotica - irrelevant to this - you may have a piece of music you may use in a certain way, but be subtle -OK? This contest is open to all.
4.No STiCky cAps and definitely no text talk, please note the first person singular is I and not i...
5.Use between 5-8 tracks to keep it manageable.
Above all, enjoy!
And my soundtrack? (without explanation of course)
Yellow Submarine - The Beatles
Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
I Feel Love - Donna Summer
Gold Dust Woman - Fleetwood Mac
Carmina Burana - Carl Orff
MLK - U2
Hurt - Johnny Cash/Nine Inch Nails (both versions)
Carvel/Regret - John Frusciante
More points may be added, depending on how many entries I get.
Have fun with it.

Some music reminds me of a life and things that I don't remember, but they're there, do they count? I can't explain it properly, but it's like I have memories of something don't remember, which in fact, doesn't make any sense but I remember. Anyway, can I still enter? Oh yeah, and I'm sorry for making you the center of my ramble today

Cool contest by the way! -
Wow
That's a really cool contest ^^ I wish I could enter, but it's a busy busy summer and I guess I won't have the time to write anything
. Oh well, brilliant idea! ^^
