Choices!

This is my first options\ prompt style so this will be interesting. Believe my the prompts will be creative and I expect you to take it above and beyond any expectations. Make it out of this world and crazy!
Be very detailed about emotions and show don't tell..
Feel free to use multiple options! And enter multiple times but put your name in A\N notes so I don't award two people trophies, which I want to avoid unless their entries deserve to win.
Rules!
1. There are a lot of chances for creative liscense here but don't bash any races or religion and on iffy topics be care what you say.
2. Use spell check and grammar, if I can't read it then I won't be able to judge it.
3. Pay attention to the word limits where they are on the options and prompts- they are set to the different options.
4. Don't reserve spaces cause that bugs me, message or im me if you want a prompt or have a question or comment.
5. No erotica preferably, I don't care if people in the story are gay or lesbian or anything like that but I'd rather not have erotica just cause I don't really read it.
6. If you enter a prewrite, then only do so on the ones where I say they are ok, and make sure your story revolves around the option you enter, don't have the option mentioned once or twice - it should be centred on that.
7. Be very creative and have fun!

Option one
Take something that is normally considered bad or an event that has a lot of bad emotions that normally come with it and write it beautifully. Describe it in a way t hat I can feel the sorrow but the way it is told is just beautiful. Make something ugly and bad and sad , make it powerful and write it beautifully. 500 words or less! 50 words or so over is fine but message me if you are wondering about anything else.
200 words min

Option two
Write about Girl Aggression from the point of view of either the girls doing it or the girls being victimised. If you don't know what it is look it up, actually in fact even if you do know what it is look it up - make sure you know what you are writing about. Believe me it happens every day , everywhere though it may be more subtle at others where you are or have been.
Brownie points if you write it off true experiences and tell me in authors note if you do. No more than 4,000 words please!

Option three
Take an event or take somewhere someone is being silenced and than write through their voice.
Look up my other contest, giving the silenced a voice for a better description and feel free to read those entries because I am using that idea here . No more than 6,000 words please!

Option four
Two parts to this option either
Write me a poem in tribute or rememberance to someone, an event or a people. Write it about promises or regrets or loving someone. Write it to acknowledge or pay tribute to suffering or silencing. Put in A\N what it is remembering though.
OR
Write me a poem using at least 10 of these words or more. IF you combine both choices here than brownie points. Thats creativity.
The words are at the bottom only because I don't want to make this Option incredibly long. I have a lot of possible words.
If you use all my words I will have so much respect for you, and if you can make it work and get a message out or make it have sense making rhythm you will have a good chance at winning. Warning, thats a lot of words. Find someway to highlight or let me know what words you used. Write them in Authors notes if you can't highlight or make them in the poem. You can do them in all capitals if you absolutely want but I prefer not.
No word limit!

Option five
Take something happening somewhere or that has happened, a historical event or just any event and write it from a wild animals point of view- how it affects them or how they feel about something humans are doing. Preferably more serious rather than light hearted
3,075 word limit!

Option six
Write a memoir of your life. Can be serious or not but have it be true. Detailed! Something that happened recently or maybe not. 800 to 1200 words or so if possible. Put how old you were or are in the story somehow, mesh it in.

Option Seven
Write about colors, make colors a really important part of your story and how different people see things. I.E Red, yellow , Blue, Gold, Silver, like that. If you want to take it and write about injustice or how people feel being treated differently for their color you could do that too.
No word limit!

Option Eight
WRite about pride, being proud to have your culture , be your race, speak your language, be who you are, look like you. A story about pride and what it means to come to terms with who you are and accept yourself and love yourself. No word limit but have it be succinct and concise don't go on and on if you can avoid that! I know I do that sometimes and so it is hard not too.

Option Nine
Take any of the quotes or statements on my profile page and write a story from it. Has to be a fresh write if you do this. Put the quote in your authors notes. 3000 word limit! No prewrites!

Option Ten
Take any of the songs listed down below and write a story about them, inspired by it , or where the song plays a major part in the story. It has to be a fresh story though. My music tastes may get groans and thats ok, yes I listen to some mainstream Pop but I try to avoid the pointless songs where they lyrics have no substance i.e Katy Perry (in my opinion), and yes I like some Hip Hop. I try to not listen to booty music and stick to Hip Hop and Rap with substance or music trying to discuss serious issues.
The music I picked is the songs that I think have substance rather than just talking about how much money they make or promoting drugs and violence.
You can use more than one song but put the one(s) you use in the authors notes.
The word limit is 5,000 words. No prewrites!

Option eleven
Write a story about the elements! Include them in some way, at least one of them. You can incorporate them in any way you want just make sure the element has a important part in your story.
With water you could use, the ocean or sea, waves, rain, snow, a lake, a river, a creek any of those or anything you can think of.
Fire - candles, bonfire, wildfire, burning,
Earth - land, dirt, trees, enviroment ,desert, forrest.
Air- flying, heaven, the sky
Take it and just run with it!
6,000 word limit.

Prompts! Here are a few but if you can't find one you can write off of message me and I will try to send you something. I am only going to do around 9 sent prompts because I am going to Mexico in a couple of days for two weeks for a school trip and don't really have time to think up more prompts than that before I go. If you can't write something after I give it to you though please message me and tell me so that I can give it to someone else. That is perfectly ok though if that happens- sometimes you just don't have anything for it because its not with your style of writing. Im, message, or put a comment if you want a prompt. Don't reserve a spot for it, please, since I can't see whose who on this one. No prewrites for prompts or story starters! Word limit is 3,000 to 5,000 for all prompts and story starters.

1. You call me weak for not rising to your bait because I won't let our children see us fight. You call me stupid for not knowing how to read but I know how to stop our sons tears and what are daughters dreams are because I didn't go to school after they were born. You call me blind for not seeing the importance of the children going to your functions when the truth is I love my children to much to see them turn out like you. You call me silly and obedient because I'd rather go to my crying child in the night than wake you up and argue while he is hurting. You call me neglecting because I pay attention to raising our children rather than listening to you complain. How dare you call me emotional because I cry for the mothers who have too many children to have time to grieve for the son that blew themselves up while entrusted to your care? How dare you accuse me of not being brave enough when during wartime I'm the one outracing stray bullets to bring bread home to starving children? How dare you run from missiles and call me a coward for refusing to run with you when I'd rather die for our children then live if they don't?

2. When will you see the tears streaming down my face and try to understand my pain? When will you hear my strangled sobs at night and come to my room to hold me through my nightmares? When will my silence be broken enough for you to hear my voice?

3. City streets fell to the side in a blur as they tore through stifling masses of people. Hands clasped together - one holding on for dear life and the other to save a life. Strands of brown hair whipped across her cheeks and covered her eyes from seeing but her heart kept pounding and her feet kept moving. Something was wrong but she was to young to know she should be afraid . He promised her she wouldn't ever be in danger and she believed him. Stumbling a tiny body fell unable to keep up anymore. Without hesitation he lifted her to his hip and as tiny arms wrapped around his neck he barrelled through a crowd of colors and smells - searching

4. Smoke painted her hair with smells of burning as the fire destroyed everything in her path. Legs burning with exhaustion some hidden strength refused to let her stop. Chasing hopes that were disappearing in the flames, blackened hands gripped the window sill that stopped her movement. She didn't know how to give up- being a survivor defined her and that's all she knew how to be.

5. Three year old chubby arms grabbed unwashed hair pulling the head down to his level. Tired arms picked him up from his wooden cage of fleece blankets and stuffed animals that had been moved to prevent him from stranding himself on tabletops and couches each time he escaped. A smile danced across rosy cheeks as he planted a wet kiss on the cheek of his rescuer, " Whas love mommy?"

6. Scars were etched in her heart. Scars filled with watery pain and broken memories. Closed eyes opened her sight to the silver lit outline staring at her from the sky , about to witness the stealing of her innocence.

Story starters
1. Racing out of this world into freedom , her heart pounded with destiny.
2. Moving to the drumbeat of her dreams, she twirled and twisted dancing to the beat of her heart.
3. Love isn't a word- love is when you cry to see them hurting-love is when you'd die for them to keep them safe.
4. Being strong enough to let go means holding harder than you ever have to the things that keep you grounded.
5. Fires illuminated the night- calling to the stars to shine with their brothers and sisters in flaming beauty.
6. Hoof prints marked the earth long before I could walk, and they will continue to speak for the land past the end of my time.
7. Cantering into the future before anyone could stop her , Sorra was free.
8. Waves churned onto the shore creating a wake of white water to be ridden by wooden boards carrying adrenaline driven riders who longed to be a part of the never ending sea.
9. Crouched over her board trying to find her balance among the chaos of foam barrelling onward, she soared and learned to fly.
10. Flickers of heat set the night on fire , its flames leaping and jumping into a cloudy sky the absence of the fire cast the places just out of its reach in sorrow.

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on August 12, 2008
  • Rewards: Gold: 450, Silver: 210, Bronze: 165, Honorable mention: 7 people
  • Final notes:
I want to thank everyone for entering! I had some really strong pieces for me to read and judge. My gold winner, was pretty much set as soon as I read that story- just loved it, same with the second. My third was beautifully written and i had a really hard time deciding between it and the HM that are close in order to it- They were all really amazing. I appreciate the time all of you took for my contest! The rest of my HM, the order doesn't mean anything really except for 5th and 6th were the other two that took me awhile to decide whether t hey would place. If I could place all my finalists I would, and an HM to all the stories , I would. Thank you all of you for some really good reads!

Jeez, you have a lot of choices.
    o.O
I'm trying to pick one that I'll be able to do the best job at...hopefully if I don't get writer's block, I'll enter this contest.

"Wings" is for option one. I'll probably enter at least one fresh write later. I particularly like the "human event through animal eyes" prompt.

Its a good bit over but this is my first option contest so I'm lenient. Go ahead, I'm interesting to see. Just to clarify for other people don't assume that you can just enter yours if its over, message me or comment so I know and be warned. I'll probably allow it if its not that much over. I just don't want like 800 and more, I really prefer if its as close to the word limit as you can have it though.
So Andy yea go ahead and enter.

Tony33, I commend you on the effort though. There's 106 words, a friend was bored and offered to just give me random words, good luck and i'm excited to see what you come up with. I'd still prefer better written rather than use the most words- so it if doesn't flow or you can't make it all work- go with less. Thats totally fine if its long- my stuff is almost always long.

    Poem

Using all the words seems to be a near impossibility, or very very difficult at least.
But what the heck, I'll give it a go.
It might not be perfect, and will probably be quite long, but i will try to use all words.

K guys, seriously need to put what option you used in authors notes. I know its a pain if its a prewrite and you don't want to go back but before I judge the contest you all should, or I can't judge. I will be judging in part on how well you wrote the Option's topic so need to know what you chose. I forget to add it in all the time, not going to DQ anyone cause thats silly, but I will be unable to judge if you don't put it in before end of contest.
Thanks for entering all of you that have though! The rest of you can't way to see your entries.
