A way to write a story.

Well since I'm not the expert at writing anything, I need your help. Some of you have really cool ways to plan out a story so it isn't so dull. Maybe if you wouldn't mind sharing with me how to plan out a story. I'll give an Honorable Mention to everyone who post the layout needed.

Rules: (For fun because I am really bored.)

  1. No pre-writes because I'm asking for your opinion.
  2. Not anonymous because I want to give credit where it is due.
  3. I would like a format that will work for anything.
  4. I like making numbered rules.
  5. Why not make
  6. Some
  7. Pointless
  8. Ones.

Ok I'm done with being bored there. So if you enter, thank you for your help.

  4. To write a story, you always need to start with an idea. Most people list ideas, plan out a map (similar to a comic book), or just take whatever comes in their head. This first part depends on how you like to work. Some write

You know, in all honesty, I think having a story plan is way overrated. In fact, it just gets in my way, personally. If you're absolutely sure this is how you'll be most effective at writing stories, go for it, but have you considered that insisting on a firm layout might be part of your writer's block?

That's a good point. When I write, my basic plot is usually pretty flexable, because when i plan too much it makes me have trouble connecting the dots. I mean, like when I write and I'm trying to work up to something, usually it gives me trouble since I'm trying not to rush it and make it flow unnaturally.
