How would you feel if you were Joan of Arc's elder brother? Or Helen of Troy's uglier best friend? This is my first contest on here and what I'd like you to do is take a character from history and imagine that you are connected to him/her in some way. You watch their achievements from the sidelines, so tell me your point of view... I've done this exercise in school and had fun with it - by the way the narrative voice doesn't have to be human. If you check out my story 6136, you'll find it's told by a very different kind of voice.
Don't like to be too constricting but we do need some rules in my universe...
1. Please check grammar and spelling carefully throughout.
2.If it's a draft, please note this in your AN.
3. I don't mind 'adult' content but anything too graphic will be disqualified.
4. Please note who your character voice is in your AN; if you don't I'll message you a reminder but then I'll have to DQ you and I'd hate to do that to anyone.
5. Please try and keep it under 2000 words otherwise it'll take me ages to judge and I for one don't like to keep contestants waiting too long for a result.
6. Write in the first person narrative please.
I will comment on all entries, if you take the time and effort to enter the contest, the least I can do is comment on your work, and I'd be grateful if you'd find time to read some of mine someday too. I will be honest in my comments, but I won't be rude, that's completely pointless. I personally believe that whilst a 'nice write' comment is great to receive, I also like constructive criticism and any suggestions on how to improve my work. If that's what you want, then come on in and have some fun.

- Contest was judged on July 20, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 100, Silver: 20, Bronze: 10, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes: Many thanks to those who entered my contest and whilst the number of entries was somewhat disappointing, the standard of those who entered wasn't. I had a good mix of somewhat ancient and modern and enjoyed reading all of the work submitted. Look forward to reading more of everyone's work. Congratualations to all.

Okay, so, my story includes Captain Dick O'Kane and some of his crew from his sunken submarine in WWII, its not about HIM perce, but still, it has him included, this is a historicle fiction, so it plays off of what really happened adn has a fictional mane character. Hope you like it.
Freedom
P.S It's not in first person, but I don't really have the time to write an entire new story right now, so... I hope this is fine, if not just dq me.
