So now that I've racked up more points here's the second edition of diversity goes.
I'm allowing more entries this time, so this should be interesting. You can still enter any genre and plot-line you want. No poetry please. Sorry this is a contest for short stories. Also keep the stories 5000 words or less. I will lax if it's a little over but try to keep it less. So now what I'll be looking for:
1. I want creativity. If it's not original in some way I don't want to read it, and it won't advance.
I'd appreciate staying away from the cliche, unless you can do it with exceptional style.
2. I want a very descriptive style. If you're the kind of writer who only the writes the when and how, it's time to add the where and who in great detail. I want to feel like I'm there.
3. Try to make the writing mature. This sounds very broad, but hey it's a theme.
4. The characters should be well developed. I want a great setting and plot, but if I don't feel I know your characters, then what's the point?
Alright so that's what I'm looking for and I will judge for all of those. That's what I'll be looking for, along with flow and word choice, and other such obvious things. It was very hard to judge the last contest because there were so many stories that fit the bill. I'm hoping for even more great entries this time.
So now the dreaded rules:
1. Try to have descent grammar and spelling, if it's too hard to read because of your spelling or grammar I won't.
2. If you have a backgound, then make the text readable, if I can't read it I won't try. Sorry
3. Don't do all ThIs StUfF...it makes me angry and you get disqualified.
4. Try (this isn't required) to comment on someone else's work in the contest. This contest is meant to foster diversity, let's really make it work. If you comment on mine or someone else's in the contest's work then you've really made this count.
5. Be courteous, no flaming comments on people's works, this will also upset me. The content may not appeal to you but that is no reason to offend someone.
6. Unlike last time I'm making a restriction on the length of the stories. No longer than 5000 words. You can go as short as you like though.
** If you have a piece longer than 5000 words and would like to enter it, IM me and I will consider it.
7. Most Important: do your best and have fun.
Because this is a contest about diverse writing styles. I hope you read some of the works entered in the contest, or some of my works. Anything that's different from your own style. My judging won't depend on how much you read, but that's the best way to get into the spirit.
Now good stuff, the awards:
First Place: 125 points
Second: 75 points
Third: 50 points
3 Honorable Mentions: 5 points
**More points have been added as well as honorable mentions. If I don't recieve any stories worth a mention I will remove those. Also if I recieve more than 3 I will add more honorable mentions.
Only 30 entries allowed so hurry!
If you get a negative comment, that in no way means you're out. If I receive an IM that you re-did your story and would like a second chance, I will gladly re-read it.
Good luck and have fun.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on August 1, 2006
- Rewards: Gold: 125, Silver: 75, Bronze: 50, Honorable mention: 5 people
- Final notes: This was a great contest, and once again I was very happy with the turnout. The stories were all a pleasure to read and it was so hard to judge. It was so difficult to decide the winners as there were so many deserving candidates. Good job to everyone and congradulations to those who won.
