{The Contest}
I've got all these points, so I'm asking you to get inspired by one of the following prompts and make it your own. Use one anywhere in your story, and add anything and everything you want. The goal here is to make it entertaining, relatable, and influenced by you. (P.S-I love detail as you've probably gathered by this pic of some random French bedroom. So rich in it's texture and colors...it feels like it's got a story to tell.)
{The Rules}
-Proper grammar/english/structure.
-Use 1 of the following prompts somewhere in your story.
-Quote someone in your Authors Notes. It can be something you said, one of your characters said, something your friend said, or something you heard on tv. Please use quotation marks.
-I don't know how you could, but please, no poetry.
-No length limit. I've got minutes, hours, and days. Yes, I dare you.
{The Prompts}
1) He stood there before us in the morning light of the living room, shaking in his clothes. He was wearing that shirt he loved, the threadbare one he wouldn't get rid of. His face cringed with each word, and his breath came in short gasps like he might faint at any moment.
2) My stomach knotted up with anticipation as I gripped the plastic phone to my ear. I could hear the excited staccato of her words at the other end, high and frantic. She paused mid-sentence, and the words froze in my throat.
3) This isn't who I want to be. The situation is all wrong, and I have no idea how I got myself into this to begin with. The night is warm, almost suffocatingly so, and I feel a hand slide into my back pocket. I turn towards the sudden movement and I'm met with a surprised, and questioning expression.
4) What do you mean he didn't know? I never meant to be assuming, but I thought it was pretty obvious to all of us. How could you have let me say all of those things? I know we don't get to talk that often, but he's still around, you know. He still looks at me with that look, and those pleading eyes.
5) Her hair was shorter, now, and she smiled at me from the warmth of that room. It smelled like wood, candles, and nature, and I wished I could stay. She pressed her lips together and nodded a little in acknowledgment. It felt like nothing between us had changed.

We all knew it would come to this point. Ever since we'd brought him to the doctor three months ago, ever since the doctor uttered the diagnosis we'd all been afraid to hear.1 / "Schizophrenia,"• Commented on by judge. [remove]
