Losing My Mind (Contest)

I just want a story about someone--or someones--losing their mind. It could be over the loss of a loved one...or something trivial like the loss of a cellphone or iPod. Make it real, make it vivid.

Rules.

Minimum word count=400 (originally 600). This is liable to change, so keep watching.

Maximum word count=2000, five hundred words under (1500) or over (2500) anymore than that don't bother entering because I'll be checking the word limit before I read your story. If it's over 2500 I'm DQing.

Don't complain if I DQ you. It's annoying, it's childish...don't do it.

Prewrites are allowed towards the end of the contest.

You can enter once--and once only. If I DQ you you're done. Can't enter anymore. That's that.

No chat speak. I don't want to read it, I don't feel like reading it. I'll DQ you if I see chat speak. Chat speak used to enhance the story--I came across a story along those lines--will be considered. Writing in chat speak for the hell of it will not be tolerated.

Gay/Lesbian is fine. I have no problem with it.

Erotica is also fine. Don't go overboard with it though.

If you come up with something awesome and completely unexpected you have an awesome chance of getting Gold.

In your Author's Notes, tell me what would drive you to the point of insanity and why? It's not required, but something to consider.

And with that...I leave you to write.

Disclaimer.

I have the right to...
...end this contest on or before 14 May 2008
...DQ you with or without a reason
...Add points as I see fit
