Mind play

The point of this contest is to make me think. It can be a mystery or straight forward, but make really think about it. I mean like, change my world. Give me perception and thought and depth. Just give me something intense. It can be dark, scary, cute and lovey, funny, crazy, romantic, random...I don't care. Do what you do best...and do it well. Kudos if you can make me cry. That could be happy cry or sad cry. Ok. Rules time:

NO SWEARING!!! Well, I can handle hell and damn but nothing too intense. STORIES WITH THE F WORD WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY DQ'D!!! DO NOT BREAK THIS RULE OR I WILL SEND A CRAZY MAFIA BLOODHOUND TO EAT YOU!! Clear?

Nothing too terrible erotic. I dont want a sex novel about her heaving bosoms...just don't. Nuff said.

Keep the length within reason. 3000 words is like 5 pages double spaced. I wont put a length restriction on here, but just don't enter your 269 page novel, ok? I'm sure it's brilliant, but I'm a college student. I dont have time for that. Keep the word count down around 3000-ish, ok?

In your Author's notes, put your 'muse', or motivation, inspiration, whatever you wanna call it for your piece and...your favorite animal and why. Yep. You read right. Your favorite animal and why. I dont know why. It seems fun. Mine's a tiger cause they're pretty and powerful. See? Loads of fun.

Be original. A wise professor named George once said (like a week ago), "I don't think outside the box. I think of a box no one else has ever thought of, then I stay in that box." Find your box.

This isnt a rule, but I'll just say now that i prefer new stories to prewritten ones, but if a prewritten one is better, i won't discriminate. Oh, and you can enter more than one story per person, but I ask you keep it to two, three TOPS.

Ok, most important rule. Have fun and write from your heart. Passion is everything in writing. And I promise i will read and comment on EVERY entry. I'll be honest, possibly brutally so, but it's constructive critizism. I love you all, really.

Good luck! Happy writing!

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on March 21, 2008
  • Rewards: Gold: 175, Silver: 125, Bronze: 75, Honorable mention: 4 people
  • Final notes:
I know it's so cliche for me as the judge to say this, but seriously, judging this contest just about killed me. I had like, 20 people in my finalists and I could NOT decide. I decided to choose the three I really loved and also that didn't have previous awards. All the stories were so wonderful. The winners are as follows:
    Gold: Beauty's worth
Silver: Prologue: Tales of an Unwilling Vampiress
    Bronze: Remembering Sunday
Honorable Mentions: A day in the Life, Red light Green light go, Twisted Reality, and Dreamscapes
I also wanted to recognize a few I finally had to cut that I loved.
    The Glass like Shattered Girl
    Beaten
    Charlotte
    What colour are your wings?
    Adaptability
The pros and cons of being hit by a transport..
My dearest Katharine, I love you.
I really loved every one of these, but I couldn't make that many finalists and so I had to choose the ones that really stretched my mind and made me think since that was the point of the contest. Thank you to everyone for entering! I enjoyed reading all of these so much. KEEP WRITING and let me know if you want me to read anything new. Best of luck,
    TheDamned77
