Must Like Teddy Bears, But...

...in this contest, your entry doesn't have to be a loveable one. It can be off the wall with a teddy bear being equivalent to "Chucky" in the horror series. I'm sure the "Comment Saw Bear" on my page could even inspire some minds to be twisted in such a way.

The catch here will be that you have to make up a story about a teddy bear, but using at least ten (10) emoticons in the story. There will not be a maximum! If you don't know how to make them, fear not! Once you read everything in this contest, you will be fluent in emoticon production(lol).

Here is the list for viewing:

The following is a story in an emoticon contest and gave me the inspiration to make my own!

(just close the spaces between the letters and asterisks to turn them into emoticons):

I need some * help * ! First, let me explain that I'm a * dog * . Sometimes I am * dizzy * and * confused * about my situation. I can't * sleep * because of it. I'm in * love * ! What's wrong with that you say * question * You might think I'm * cuckoo * or * giggle * when I tell you. She is a * cat * ! No, I didn't say * bat * , I said a * cat * !!!!! I'm telling you 'cuz my shrink is a * monkey * and he just * rofl * and * shake * his head. At least I know you listen and don't run away from me when I tell you stuff. Guess it helps that you're a * turtle * . So can you point * arrow * me in the right direction. Am I barking up the wrong tree in this relationship? Does that mean you're thinking about your answer * lightbulb * ? * oh * , thank you for the answer and being so * cool * about my * love * ordeal. Your advice makes me * happy * ! I think I will * email * her, no wait I will * phone * her instead. Better yet, I will go see her in person to give her a * kiss * and some * rose * * rose * * rose * * rose * * rose * * rose * and maybe * cocktail * * beer * under the * star * * star * * star * !

May actually look at the above story at this link (and no you don't have to make a comment, it's only for you to see it as an example):

The below link is the contest that gave me the inspiration:

http://storywrite.com/contest/3630

Rules are more than simple:

One entry per person (no prewrites here)

Story must be about a teddy bear (and anything else you would like to throw in the mix) in anyway you wish to make it.

Must have ten (10) minimum emoticons in the story with no maximum.

The only maximum is to keep it about or under 1,000 words.

This contest will close by 15 FEB 2008 (unless it has not reached the minimum of five entries, then it remains open until it has achieved this number)

Looks like it will be only four! One HM will have to be forfeited.

What you do is take * happy * and take the spaces out between the asterisks and the 'h' and 'y' like so:

    This is such an honor!

Oh, I'm so happy that I inspired you this much! It truly honors me to know that you are posting a contest with a twist like that. Thank you SOO much for including a link to my contest!

It was my pleasure. I just had to think of a twist so I wouldn't be basically copying your contest. Of course teddy bears (Ted E Bare) would be the perfect thing for me(lol). I'm still hoping a couple of my friends will enter yours or even that others will enter yours from mine (another reason to give you credit so you may get more entries)

oh no, come on! I wrote a FANTASTIC creepy teddy bear story, but that's just it- I already wrote it. Pouts. Can't you squeeze in just a few pre-writes? At least go read it, it's called "theodore," it's cute. Good luck with your contest.

You can do this, you can give it another title name and enter it as a fresh write. However, you need to make sure there are ten emoticons in it. I don't think too many people have emoticon stories laying around and is why it's not open to prewrite. I have done a couple of prwrite contests over at AP and would get entries that had nothing to do with the contest and since I don't DQ anyone, it took up more time for the contest as I will always leave a comment on the things I read. I do let DQ entries know that it doesn't meet the contest rules. Many never take them out(lol). I never go back to someone's page to check to see if they have written the entry before. If you ever have something to fit my contests that has been written in the past, you just have to get creative with another title. Thanks for the inquiry.

      Ted E
