Okay, this is my first contest. Just thought I'd let you know (like you care).
Anywho, I used to be a big, big, BIG fantasy freak. Seriously. It's all I would ever write. And then my fantasy writing just dropped. Poof, it was gone, all my inspiration, motivation, and other words that end with -vation, all down the toilet.
And that, my friends, is where YOU come in! Isn't that exciting? Your simple job is to get me obsessed again. It's not that hard; just submit a GOOD fantasy piece for me to read and enjoy!
In my (mostly worthless) opinion, there are two types of fantasy. Realistic fantasy (which doesn't make logical sense, I know) and fantasy fantasy. To you, these terms probably mean nothing. But realistic fantasy (to me) is where the story takes place on earth and everything, with humans and cities and technology. Fantasy fantasy is classic fantasy: making up your own world, own creatures, all that jazz. That is just my long way of saying that I don't care what kind of fantasy it is. Just that it's fantasy. I have no preference between the two.
Now, I'd like to say that I adore romance. Seriously. If your story has good romance in it (though is not centered on romance) I will surely love it. But it has to be good romance.
And now for the rules:
1) Story must be fantasy.
2) No erotica or adult categories; I can't view it.
3) All CAPS NOT ACCEPTED. No chat speak, or tYpInG lIkE tHiS (though honestly I've never seen it done on SW)
4) Must be between 1,000 and 15,000 words, give or take one hundred.
5) Must have at least one fantastical creature (for example: dragon, vampire, unicorn, etc)
6) Put the phrase: "lissabeth is awesome" somewhere in your author notes so I know you read to rules.
I'm so mean. But as the contest creator, I have that kind of power. Ahaha.
7) MUST MUST MUST have good grammar and spelling. A misplaced comma or an occasional misspelled word won't kill your chances of winning, but it definitely makes me unhappy to read stories with bad grammar and spelling.
8) I'm allowing prewrites, because I'm looking for something good and not necessarily off the top of your head; with a good plot. BUT, you get brownie points for a new story. As long as it's not a crappy new story, of course.
9) Have fun!!!
I guess that's about it. Sorry for the whole annoying lengthy explanations and all. But I guess I'll see you later!!
xoxox,
Lissabeth

Oh come now, your opinion is not worthless! I may try to enter this, if I can come up with something new. I'm a bit tired of relying on my prewrites (and besides that, I may not have anything that exactly fits this contest anyway). Have fun judging!

-
Ha. Thank you. And I'm glad that you'd write something new; I think I'm going to add something in about brownie points for new stories.
I like being the cause of inspiration. Ha.

The person who wrote Heisenberg's Shaman: The River, we are sorry but we can't read it! Adult isn't allowed, we can't read it!
-
-
Oh, ok
When I first set it up, I made it adult not as a prohibition, but an indicator of appropriate reading age. I'll remove the label, as there's nothing unsuitable for under agers, but some of the concepts may be a little difficult for younger readers. -
-
There we go. Thank you for clearing that up!
-

Just noticed
I just noticed that my story also exceeds your word limit. Feel free to stop your assessment at any point (if you make it to 15000 words that will be very nice). I'll understand if you want to disqualify it. -
-
Oh, that might be bad. Your 600 over, let me check with lissabeth but as long as you aren't ranting, it's interesting, and those evtra 600 words are nessisary for the story, I think your fine. I'll comment and tell you.
Thank you for being honest!
-
-
It's worse
I'm 6000 over, which is almost the final third of the story. I'm certainly not ranting. It's a pleasure to have an opportunity to join in a contest like this, but if my story doesn't fit the bill, so be it. -
-
Oops, I can't read. Well from the start of your story I really like it. I'll see if I can convince lissabeth. It's a stunning story!
Give me a day or two and I'll reply telling you yeas or no.

is a zombie-like creature considered fantasy?
-
-
Err--the only answer that I can come up with is this:
I can't consider them reality... *laughs* -
Sure!!
-
-
Okay, sorry that I haven't gotten to all of the entries yet; I will soon, I promise, it's just that this is a lot of reading and my life is starting to get more complicated what with school and karate starting up again.
Lissabeth -
Thank you so much for the bronze. It's very much appreciated

Congrats to the other winners.
