A Brave New (open source) World.

A Brave New (open source) World.

The most awesome / elaborate SW project ever.

“Ten Galleons, and between them a thousand passengers, left Port Arden in good weather and good cheer, to sail beyond the edge of the mapped world, and to start their lives anew. Three months aboard an overcrowded leaking ship, sailing towards a fate unknown, we must have been mad.”

If you want more backstory, click the link. http://storywrite.com/story/118911

If you just want the bones, I’ll give them to you. Look at my badly drawn map, and pick a square, or better yet, add one of your own, and describe the strange animals, plants, people and / or monsters that live therein. That’s it.

The ideal would be that enough people contribute to grow this thing into a whole wiki world, with enough waffle to rival The Elemenstor Saga.

Realistic expectation, enough people enter for me to at least get rid of my points, and the accompanying urge to do something constructive for this site.

Rules?

Surprisingly few.

At least make an effort to leave the well-trodden path, so no elves, dwarfs, dragons, wizards, werewolves, and definitely no goddamn vampires.

That’s about it.

No size limit, you can go anything from a few hundred to a few thousands, and you can make it as dark or as fluffy as you want. Just enter something.

Very intriguing. I'd be interested in throwing some horror into the mix, and it looks like you've provided plenty of strange places in this land to do so. Will see what I can do.

I have a question, so knowing me it's probably going to be dumb. You told us to put in monsters, but also to be realistic ._.
How do those comply with each other?

not sure where i said realistic.

I banned dragons and vampires because there utterly unimaginative. you can be as weird and fantastical as you want, in fact, its encouraged.

Thanks so much for the trophy and points, and for your comment! It really sucks that there weren't more entries for this, I thought it was such a good idea for a contest. But, I think most people on this site are probably content writing 300-word epics inspired by songs on the radio rather than actually flexing a creative muscle.
