Contest The Power of the People by Change31Edit

Prompt

To Fellow AP Poets,

This is a special contest outside of “Sucker for Verses” and “Free Form, Free Verses” series. As you all may or may not have heard, Sudanese students are raising their voice up against the unjust and corruption that's happening under the current president if Sudan. My friend Abubakar (also an AP Poet) and I are trying to raise an awareness of the revolution in Sudan. For more info visit this blog: http://sudanrevolts.wordpress.com/

For this contest, unlike in the other series, there is no style restriction, so anything goes. Though please see rules below for more info.

The theme for this contest will be “The Power of the People”, some poems I am looking for are powerful, strong narrative that speak about the horrors of violence, injustice and inequality. This may or may directly about the Sudanese, but feel free to check out the blog to draw inspirations. This contest speaks for the voice unheard and the power that unite common people together.

The winners of this contest (3 place winners and 5 HM) will be feature in the up coming issue of CandleLit Magazine.

Note I: BECAUSE THIS IS A CONTEST I WON'T BE SO NICE WITH THE CRITIQUE. I WILL GIVE A CONSTRUCTIVE CRITIQUE WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT. SO I'M TELLING YOU AHEAD OF TIME THAT WHAT I WRITE WILL POTENTIALLY HURT YOUR FEELING, SO BE PREPARE.

Note II: Because I am not sure how many participant will be participating in the contest, so for now there will be no Honorable Mention unless it exceeds 8 participants. Also, the contest point will set to bare minimum unless there is donation, and then I will gladly raise the prize.

Note III: Just an update on the contest. I'm going to close the contest earlier. That's just to prevent new entries from entering. I will still going to judge and announce the winners as planned. Therefore, you guy will still have the chance to revise your poem entry (if you choose to of course). So, here's again the schedule, just a little revised.

08/15/12 - Contest closes
08/22/12 - Contest ends and entries judging.

Update: Award has gone up thanks to donation from MystiqueWizzard (07/04/12)
