Prompt
Hey guys!
So, this is my first contest on Storywrite, and I was looking for things a bit more, original for you to write about. So, I'm not sure if anyone has done a contest like this.
I absolutely love psychology, and I really want to work with children who have mental / psychological disorders. Your job is to write me a story about a child who has a real disorder, it can be any age under the age of eighteen (hence children), and it can be any type of psychological disorder. From Separation Anxiety to Bulimia Nervosa to Gender Identity Disorder. It can be a story of self discovery or just coping with it. It can be placed in any setting, from a psych ward to your own backyard. But please, if you use a sexual disorder make sure you age it appropriately. I'm seventeen, so obviously I can't read adult material.
Oh, and the colors are to play a huge factor in this. See, colors are said to have meanings and help psychologically. For example: The color red is generally used universally for anger (because when some people are mad they get red in the face) and it's also used in restaurant slogans (such as McDonald's) because it makes you hungry. Blue generally means sad, and depressing. Yellow is happy. The list goes on and on. I want you to come up with whatever color you'd like, look up the reason (please make sure you tell me if you looked it up in your AN).
The color does have to be symbolic to the character is some form. IE: "The blue sparrow always made Trisha fall deeper into depression because it was the last token of her favorite grandmother she had". Or something like that. Be more creative than I am, and please make it worth both of our times.
This is also to be either a nonfiction or realistic fiction. No fantasy and what not.
Brownie Points:
If it's in first person
If you are detailed in the thought process
If you comment on other entries.
Good luck and have fun!
-PS. Here's a link to a Wikipedia list of mental / psychological disorders:

Judging Notes
Hey guys.
I truly apologize that this took so long to judge, I've been busy like mad and I finally had a chance to really sit down and read them.
Congratulations to the winners! And great job to the other entrants. It truly was a hard decision, but I feel like these are the best.
Happy writing!
