Through the curses of long-stretched shadows,
Come past the many ghostly echoes,
Black branches of the aspen willows,
Whispered the girl with hair like crows.
Welcome, welcome, to my contest. Unlike other ones I've hosted this one is slightly darker and more gothic. Or so I'm hoping on my entries
Basically what I'm looking for is stories - not poems (and I hope my starting sentences didn't put you off) - about anything dark. You know the drill. Gothic, crows, Christian crosses (nothing too religious though), black, people who harm themselves (what some may call Emo), burning stakes, witches.
Dark.
That's the keyword, and brownie points for anyone who puts any one of these words in their story:
Dark
Gothic
Crows
I do prefer stories based around young women. Things with self harm as well.
I will try to comment on every entry, and depending on what I get, points may go down or up.
Just a few rules first::
1) No adult content.
2) Nothing extremely religious, mild at the most.
3) No cussing.
4) Please don't abuse the shift key.
5) Proper grammar and spelling if you can help it.
6) It must be dark.
7) No poems allowed.
8) Word count: Min. 100 Max. 2000
9) No fanfiction.
You CAN post prologues and first chapters, and you CAN only just post a short story. I don't mind
P.S. If you want a prompt for any inspiration, just message me
Thank you, now get submitting/writing !

No poems
I wanted to enter

Sorry!
-

I have one that is adult themed, but not so bad in actual wiritng.. however, there is a little bit of swearing.. is that o.k? honestly, if your asking for dark stories, you might have to expect that
-
-
That's okay, I don't mind any swearing. (:
-
-
Hello Dead Beauty, I have a gothic horror story but it is a second chapter which could easily stand alone as a short story. The other problem is it is 2100 words. Please may I enter anyway? If not then fair enough and good luck with your contest.
-
-
Hi Tomereader, I don't mind reading the second chapter, as long as it makes sense on its own. Feel free to enter if it's just 300 or less over the word limit. (:

Um I'm new on here and I thought it would be fun on writing something for this! No poems? That's cool because I stink at poetry. No cussing? That will be tough. No adult? Hmmm No sex stuff, I can manage I think lol. But kissing and make out is cool right? And the word limit is 100 to 2000? That's good for me! Now I shall write something dark for thee to read!
-
-
First of all, welcome to SW! Well I'm happy to have a new member eager to participate in my contest, and kissing and all that is, to me, the spice of a good story
I look forward to what you'll come up with.

-
CAN U ENTER GHOST STORIES?
-
-
No, sorry, that's not the kind of 'dark' I'm looking for. Sorryy.
-
-
No poems?? That's outrageous!! Why not?
-
-
Well I do love and enjoy poems, but it's just I'm looking for a story because you can get more out of those than poems, plus it's hard to judge a poem against a story.
