It is that time of year. Yes, I'm talking about NaNoWriMo.
Now what I want from you, fellow writers, is to read your prologue and/or first chapter for the novel you're working on this year.
I don't expect any prewrites, unless you have already put up the prologue or first chapter for it. But message me if you already do have your prologue/chapter 1 on here and I'll change it for you
The reason why I'm doing this: I am in need of a good read, and I figured why not? A lot of people are probably doing this, so I can see some interesting tales.
Rules:
1. Spelling and grammar is VERY important to me, so if you slander the language, no prize for you.
2. The minimm word count is 1,000 words. Come on, I expect it to be longer than that because usually 1,000 words = 1 1/2 pages on word
3. There is no word limit. I like reading, so length doesn't bother me, unless the story doesn't grab my attention
4. In your AN, leave the link to your user page for NaNoWriMo, that way I can tell that you're an actual member instead of just entering a prologue in a random contest.
I only have so many points, so the winner gets them all, unless I somehow get more points before this contest ends.
A BIG HUGE Thank you to Confused Shaman for donating more points so I can give out more places/prizes
I think that's it for now, so have fun

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on November 26
- Rewards: Gold: 350, Silver: 175, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 1 people
- Final notes: I just want to thank everyone for entering what they're working on for NaNoWriMo, and i hope that you are close to closing in on that goal of 55,000 words, which sadly I've been neglecting mine due to other things.
Anyways, to judge this I went with how well your hook pulled me into the story, making me want to continue reading on. A lot of the entries were decent, but overall just didn't have that pull. The people who placed had that effect.
I once again want to thank you all for your wonderful and very interesting stories.
-Jill

Haha, I have my settings changed on Word, so the page setup is different, because I would probably print out a book in the length my pages are now.
So, 900 words is about four pages
Second chapter I have about 7 pages and 1300 words.

Too bad I can't submit the first chapter. To short I guess.
I'll spruce it up abit and add some details I need so I can submit it
-
-
Yes indeedy
Will do that right now
-
well, then you can submit the first and second chapter together
-
-
Ahh, mwahaha! I combined chapter one and two, something I meant to do in the first place, because they actually flow into one another. It was something I had meant to do in the first place, but I had forgotten so I did that now.

-
Sweet! Well, I look forward to reading it!

Hello! I really like your idea here, however there is one thing in the rules that bothers me, you say spelling and grammar is very important to you (as it should be, it drives me crazy too).. HOWEVER, for NanoWriMo, we are not supposed to be editing our work until december. This month is supposed to just be free flow writing and curbing that inner editor.... therefore, all our stories should have some mistakes since we have not edited it.. if you've done it properly, anyways.
-
-
I would imagine a few typos of sily mistakes would be fine, but a chapter that looks like it was written by an illiterate chimp would be deleted. But then I'm not the judge!
-
-
Exactly the type of thing that I meant. I just don't want them to be so bad that it makes me want to rip my hair out. A few typos I can handle. Thanks for getting the point of it

Hee, hee! Entered!!

I Can't Beleive It's Not Butter!
I don't want to be buttered up with soft criticism. If you read give me your real opinion. Be as hard as you want -
-
Will do *salutes*
-
-
Thanks
-
Hm. I'm afraid to enter because the beginning and chapter is just the backstory. All the juicy stuff comes later.
-
-
It's absolutely fine, because isn't that what the beginning chapter is for anyways? The beginning chapter is supposed to be the hook to draw the readers in, but doesn't always contain the juicy stuff.
What do you have to lose by entering?
-
-
Mine's like a... snippet of the first chapter
I'm like, just reserving an entry because the complete prologue is in my flask drive and it's with my teacher
-
-
That's cool, I probably will not judge this right away either, so you have plenty of time to enter and stuff

What is NaNoWriMo? I joined last year right when it was over and I still have no idea what it is.
-
-
NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month.
Its basically trying to write a novel (which is consisted of 55,000 words or greater) in a single month. Some people can do it, others can't, but that's what taking a risk is all about.
It's basically about showing yourself that you can write a novel in a month. And you're not supposed to go back and edit it either.
You have from the beginning of November until the end of the month to write a 55,000 word plus novel.
If you do you "win", or basically attain your goal. I read last year some people may have gotten help with publishing their novel, but I don't know, i only got like 15,000 words last year.
I wish you good luck if you try it!

-
Ah, should really keep this open until NaNo ends. x__x
