I would like to read stories set in AUSTRALIA. Here a few options for inspiration.
1. A City girl/guy trying to integrate into life in the outback and vica versa.
2. A surfing story along the lines of Point Blank or Blue Crush.
3. Highlight the cultural diversity that surrounds us. MC could be aboriginal, or could be an immigrant, 1st, 2nd or 3rd generation.
These are just a few examples. Any other story lines are welcome, as long as the theme is obviously Australia.
Any genre is fine.
Bear in mind I want to read SHORT stories, not novels! So if your story is over 2000 please split it into parts (submit one part), or just submit the prologue/epilogue.
I reserve the right to DQ any story that does not meet the criteria of this contest. I am planning on giving HMs to every enterant, so I want them to deserve it.
Have fun!
~ Diane.

Darn my being American and having absolutely no clue about Australian culture! Really. It's sad.
I'm slightly sure about the following things:
1. Australians eat this weird vegetable spread stuff.
2. Peanut butter is hard to find there.
3. Stepping a single foot into the ocean will result in your immediate demise, due to the fact that there are 203948203489203948 deadly sea creatures in Australia (according to National Geographic Specials, anyway).
4. Water spins down the drain the wrong way.
5. It's really hot.
6. Damn sexy accents.
7. Descended from criminals?
8. You're a continent AND a country! Rock!
Heh. Very ignorant, I know. I hope someone writes about aboriginal culture! I love reading stuff like that.
Even if not, I think the entries will be interesting reads. Good contest idea. -

i am not an aussie and whats an aussie?
-

Read the above comments LOL Delfishie has described us to a T (in a stereotypical way). Aussie is slang for Australian Or somebody from Australia. If you can't come up with something I don't expect it. Read some of the enteries though they will enlighten you
.
-
-
hi hi
liked ur story -
-
If you know anyone who would want to enter then tell them about it
Enter yourself if you can come up with anything
thanks for leaving a comment I appreciate that!

How do you feel about screenplays? I wouldn't submit the whole thing (a. because of your word limit and b. because I haven't finished it) but it takes place in Australia. And all you real Aussies could advise me on word choice and details
-
-
Yes, a screenplay sounds great
It doesn't matter that it's not finished... just submit what you have for the contest (under 2000 words). When you finish the rest, msg me and I'll read it anyhow. I would love to help you with the wording details etc, and I'm sure the other Aussies here would to! Looking forward to reading your entry.
