Welcome!
So, you like to write incredibly long short stories, and are thwarted by the maximum word count in contests? Go ahead and enter this one, for there is only a minimum. I love short stories (and I have a lot of points I'm not using), so I created this contest in the hopes that great literature will come my way.
~There really isn't any genre that that I won't read, so yes, erotica and BLTG are allowed.
~The MINIMUM word count is 2000 words, and that's pretty low for a long short story. However, I will be lenient with 100 words under, no more or less.
~Points will go up with increased entries.
~I've made sure this is anonymized.
*~Rules~*
- Again, the MINIMUM word count is 2000 words
- Keep swearing tasteful
- Try to have good spelling, punctuation, and grammar. It gives me headache to read poorly edited works.

- And most importantly...
HAVE FUN!

Honorable Mention (no particular order):
~Flowers for the Sentinel

~A Proposal for the Professor

Hi Sberendt!
'Invasion of Stagna 3' is a little longer, better edited, and easier to read from this list:
http://storywrite.com/list/39-Invasion-Of-Stagna-3
The short story consists of the first twelve chapters of this list. I hope you enjoy it and your contest.

This is a wonderful idea..
Just maybe I'll come up with something totally new for this. (my short stories usually range between 1000-1900 words actually, but I bet I could shoot something out longer)
-
Damn, how will you get through all of these? My attention span is too nonexistent to hold a contest like this!
lol I'll try my hardest to write something long enough for this; it sounds like fun
-
Short stories...
I only write short stories, and I've never written over 2,00 words. I think it's a little silly to call it a short story contest......
Oh well, good luck with your contest anyway. -
-
Actually....
**~Wikipedia~**
"In contemporary usage, the term short story most often refers to a work of fiction no longer than 20,000 words and no shorter than 1,000. Stories less than 1,000 words are usually referred to either as "short short fiction" or "short shorts" or even "flash fiction"."
I've also taken a Creative Writing: Fiction college course this summer, and I do know a short story when I see one; we had to learn about and write them!
So there!

Thank you so much, I hate it when there is a max on word count. This is just the contest for me, thanks for this contest it will be fun.

You're welcome!

Hahaha! I just came across this contest and saw that there was one more spot open. I just had to steal the last spot! This is the perfect contest for me as I don't write the definition of SW's short stories. I usually barrel over 2000 words like an angry bull. Thanks for hosting such a fun contest!
-
-
I'm glad you and so many others chose to enter my contest! I may just have to make this a rounds contest...

Whoever gets a trophy or HM or message from me will be able to move on. Yeeesss, the idea is forming in my mind...
I might just do this!
-
-
That's not a bad idea at all. If you do maybe I'll get lucky and be one of the ones you pick.

Thank you so much for hosting this contest and pushing me to finally get past this darn writer's block
Not only that but I think I just wrote the longest short story I've ever written (mine are normally 1k-2k or novel chapters)
So thanks!
