My last contest was an epic failure, due in large part to unexpected uproar in my "real" life, and in part to the fact that it was somewhat obscure. Well, no matter what happens I will take responsibility for this one; but I'm hoping it goes better.
So, what I want are stories that start off "Boy meets girl," or "Girl Meets Boy." They don't have to have those exact lines at the beginning; a first scene in which girl meets boy or vice versa will do. You get the idea.
From there, it's up to you. Romance is great; but simple friendship stories, worst enemy stories, whatever else you come up with, are good too. Be creative. I've allowed prewrites, but make sure they fit pretty closely with the contest. If you're not quite sure about a piece, go ahead and enter it and let me decide. I'm pretty lenient.
What I WANT here is originality: stuff I haven't seen before, stuff that breaks cliches, pushes the envelope.
A quick list of Thou Shalt Nots:
nOne 0f tH1s, and no chat speak.
I tend to be a grammar Nazi, but as long as grammar and spelling &c. isn't blatantly horrid, it's fine.
No pure erotica; some sex stuff in story context is fine.
No gay/lesbian; I just don't know how to judge it.
I don't like imposing word limits, but if your story is more than 5,000 words I may stop reading at 5k and judge it based on that. (That is, unless I just have to know the ending.)
I think that's it. I will comment on all entries.
If anything is unclear or you have questions, comment here or message me. As I said, I prefer something "on the fence" being entered, as the point here is really to read some great stories.
Brownie points for anyone who catches the Sam Philips reference!

You know, it's the same old story. Guy sees girl. Girl sees him. They meet and guy falls in love. But my story is a little different. I never really wanted her the way she wanted me. Interesting contest idea
I shall see if I can come up with anything
-
can i enter a chapter story?? may be can't probably? thanks..
-
-
I've limited it to two entries per person, but if you want to enter one or two chapters or whatever and have me judge based on that, that's great. Writing and storytelling ability are what I'm looking for; I certainly won't hold it against you if the storyline isn't complete.

Hey
I entered Not sure if it will fit, theres a mention of when they first met. If it don't fit properly sorry.

Like I said, I'm loose. (pirate) We consider them more guidelines than actual rules. (/pirate)
Um, yeah, thanks for entering.

"No gay/lesbian; I just don't know how to judge it."
Hahaha. Especially if the theme is "Boy Meets Girl" -
-
Lol. Yes exactly.
-
-
Ooh! I'm going to enter!
-
-
Yay!

Hmm...
I have a first chapter done [although the work is still in progress] of a story that is basically about a man meeting a woman; however, there are lesbian tones in it, although that isn't the main pull of the story. Is this a problem? If it is, then I'll try to write something else.
-
-
Sounds like it should be all right. If you'd rather write something else, that would work too. Either way.

Question. Is the only condition for the topic that there must be a boy and girl involved, or do they have to be attracted to each other? I read the rules and everything, but I'm kind of stupid, so I don't fully understand. Haha.
-
-
As long as they have some kind of interaction, and are made aware of each other's existence, I don't care if they fall in love or hate each other's guts or anything in between.
