Welcome!
This contest is very easy.
*
*
Enter any story written this year...
any length...
any genre...
*
*
But there's one catch...
*
*
I will ONLY read the beginning of every story.
Here's how this will work:
- I'm an avid, but discerning reader. If a story catches my interest, I will generally spend time reading it.
- If the start of a story catches my eye, I will continue reading until something stops me - bad grammar, poor characterisation, passive narrative, boring/predictable plot - or, if you are lucky, the actual end of the story.
- If I get to the end AND like the story, I will comment. The comment will praise the merits of the story. If not - no critique will be given.
- Those that are commented on will be finalists.
- The story with the most impact, entertainment value and quality will be awarded gold.
RULES:
- Stories from 2009 ONLY.
- Any word count, any genre.
- Attention to proper spelling, punctuation and grammar will assist your story.
- No fanfic, poetry, rants, sermons or scripts.
- Complete stories only - no prologues or chapters.
- Ego should be checked at the door. By entering this contest, you agree that it is your story, not you as a writer that is being judged.
Does your story have what it takes?
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on October 8
- Rewards: Gold: 400, Silver: 250, Bronze: 150, Honorable mention: 5 people
- Final notes: Thank you all for entering the contest.
All finalists are placed in order - and each story judged by its merits.
The top five are well worth reading and I recommend doing so.
Congratulations to the winners!
