Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on August 25
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 100, Bronze: 75, Honorable mention: 5 people
- Final notes: This contest turned out some exceptional stories that I truly enjoyed reviewing and critiquing.
After much thought, and a lot of comtemplation I finally decided on the winners.
Gold goes to tshryu's journal-style story about an Indian homosexual couple - a bold story shedding much needed illumination inside the region. This piece has great potential to become a masterpiece!
Silver goes to Andy Stephenson's story about a lesbian couple and the controversial stand of a preacher when he decides to marry them. It was easily the most well-written piece of all, and overall, a wonderful work of quality.
Bronze goes to Dragon chronicler's short piece that provides an extensive and richly detailed look into a dragon culture/history and origins.
HM's go to Angela Christine's touching piece on the destruction caused by war, therenaissancegirl's story about child abuse and sexuality, Duality's horror story, Bethann93's wonderful fantastical piece and Sickopath's short humorous piece.
I would also like to mention Solar Flare (Chapter 1) amongst the mentions, who had a wonderful beginning, although I had specifically asked for no chapters ...
Overall, an enjoyable contest everyone! Conrgats and good lcuk in the future!

Beautiful contest.
I will be entering.
I think I have an idea.
Is it okay to mix genre's and bullet points?
Just curious. I should have an entry within a few days.
AGAIN.Brilliance
Inspiration - Thank you Asfand ;] -
-
Thanks Blair! I thought it fitting to brainstorm and put up something good for a sweet 60th!

Yep, it's perfectly fine to genres and bullet points!
Great! Looking forward for your entry!
-
-
I can't wait to write something for this!

But because I want to follow the rules, I'm not gonna write a word until I figure out what AN and GBLT are
Could you please explain them to me?
Sorry for being so ignorant, I just joined yesterday ^^ -
-
GBLT - I am pretty sure either I use this term wrongly or something. Gay/bi/les/trans [it was meant to mean this anyway!] - I thought it was pretty common but everyone asks about this!

AN are the Author's Notes on the bottom of your story!
Great! Can't wait to read your entry!
-
-
Thanks for clearing that up

Also -- how many books have you read in the Twilight series? (I was thinking of doing the Twilight fan-fiction, but the jokes and stuff would only make sense if you've read them all) -
-
Only the first two, I think. Twilight and NewMoon? *hours of my life wasted* Anyway, try to bash Twilight, if possible. I would find that enjoyable!

PS. No offence, if you like it!
-
-
Noooooooo, I does not enjoy Twilight in the least.
I would bash it, but most of my besty jokes are from the last and, in my opinion, worst book of the saga. So I will find something else
-
-
Phew! Thank goodness! The last thing I wanted was a two-on-two with a Twilighter!

Okay, cool!

I see SO many opportunities for erotica in this contest that I think I might be a pervert ><'
-
-
Hey elffy! Long time, no see!
Really?
Haha! Now I think I must be one!
-
-
Not unless all of the opportunities came from the horror/mystery/thriller/scifi genres?
-
-
-
i think i'll enter this
x
-
ugh...um, srry if theres stuff in my AN. its there b/c i need it there 2 b in other contests, and 1 of the contest makers want me 2 write that she sucks. lol. if u want 2 DQ it, thats fine. but i hope u dont. thx!
-
-
No prob! I only meant that I don't ask people to put things in their AN so they should at least follow the other simple rules!

-
-
I have a great idea, so I shall enter with pride
-
I must say that the Wiccan/President idea is funny.. but would be strictly fiction. It is against our beliefs to "curse" or seek revenge through the use of magick because we believe strongly in karma

Anyways, I've most certainly bookmarked this. Looks like a wonderful contest
And maybe it'll get me out of my rut
-
-
Really? Oh, interesing ...I've always had a very HUGE curiosity in Wicca...but what if the person casting the curse was deeply offended and saw is as um, justice!
-
-
Well, don't get me wrong, we have our 'bad seeds' as well with some people thinking they can get away with it.. or just not caring for the belief system most of us share. Someone can be dark enough to cast a curse.. but it wouldn't be viewed as justice amongst most others because of karma.
It is still a good idea, though, for a story. I may even run with it if nothing else strikes a chord with me. I just wanted to make it clear that MOST of us aren't evil and wouldn't ever do anything like that
-
-
-
Hope this qualifies, my story.
-
I'm totally entering this
-
"Gore is allowed, but only if subtly done"
Oxymoron?
I think I'd enter if you were planning on extending the deadline, but if not that's cool too. -
Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou So Much!!! I Won Gold!!! I cant believe it!! And I loved what you wrote in your final comments...! Seriously, Asfand, Shukriya, with all my heart!
-
-
No problem, I had a really tough time determining the winners but overall, I loved how your piece had authentic emotion in it!
BY THE WAY, thanks for reminding me about the nominations. I'll nominate your's and the other silver and bronze winner's stories for the SPOTLIGHT on the homepage of the story.
-
-
Btw, wht does spotlight nomination mean, exactly?
-
Hi Asfand!
Thanks so very much for silver trophy and all the points. I appreciate them. I'm extremely pleased that you like 'Dan and Dana's Dilemma'.
This is a part of my Dr. Wiley Harwell series. He handles three distinctly different problems in three other stories. The links are beneath the story or at the list on my page.
Thanks for hosting.
Andy
