For the last few weeks I've been judging family stories for a local writing competition and I'd have to say most of them suck. It's time to shed some points, so I thought I'd see if the Storywrite dudes and dudettes could come up with some better family stories than the crap I've been forced to digest as a judge.
Okay. When I say Family Stories I don't just mean your typical tear jerking-my sister has two noses- Uncle Bob and Aunt Jane visit-Mom's preggies-happily ever after junk. The stories can be about any families i.e.: Alien families, families of Meer cats, families of ants, Royal families, Anime families, fan fiction families, dead families, werewolf families, protozoean families. Okay, you get the point-families.
Limit to 1500 words unless it's really good and I'll make an exception. Pre-writes okay. No sex stuff (yuck) or blatant cursing (family-duh.)
Anyone can enter except Canadians, Brits, Aussies, or the French. Okay, I'll allow Brits, Aussies and the French, but no Canadians! Okay, all Canadians can enter, but you can't use "Eh?" in your stories. Irish can enter but you may want to ask yourself if you're worthy.
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on August 1
- Rewards: Gold: 1000, Silver: 500, Bronze: 300, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes: Thank you all for the amazing family stories. As I thought they would, they all kicked ass over the ones I've been judging. Not one of the stories would have been omitted from the contest I'm judging.
Congrats to the winners.
JJ

I have a full length story...and it's about 2900 words. I know that's a good 1400 words over the limit, but I think my story is pretty good...may I please still enter it?
