A Haiku is a Japanese form of poetry consisting of three lines.
The first line has five syllables.
The second has seven.
The last had five syllables.
Hence, the Haiku follows a specific 5-7-5 pattern.
A Haiku usually encaptures a moment. I want a Haiku that not only encaptures a moment but also emotion.
I want metaphors, vivid imagery and alliteration.
Make good use of poetic devices.
Rules
- Please follow the 5-7-5 pattern.
- Do not write about: love, death and other cliche topics. These need something stunning to qualify as original.
- You can write chains of many Haikus. They may or may not be related.
- Please be respectful to others.
- All genres are accepted but I would discourage gore, erotica.
Good luck!
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on July 10
- Rewards: Gold: 100, Silver: 20, Bronze: 5, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes: Interesting. I really enjoyed reading all the entries.
Gold: PLAYA' [brevity worked finely - it was brilliantly worded]
Silver: Haiku [fine imagery in some spots - beautiful]
Bronze: Haikus inspired by my dad [excellent wording - the last haiku really won my heart over]
HM's are not in order though very beautifully done.
Another entry I liked was Rainbow, but it was well off from the 575 pattern.
Great job every! You really deserve a pat on the back!

I love haiku.

What do you mean by chains of them?
-
-
Chains, one after the other. Sometimes you can tell a story with many haikus.
