If you don't like it, leave
As for you who are interested, this is 'new', in the sense that I haven't seen these songs in any other song-contests before
(They might have been there, but I haven't seen them )...
BUT, just so you know... there is going to be NO my chemical romance or fall out boy... so if you want to write about any of those, there's already hundreds of contest doing those...
This is my type of music, and there is no saying that you have to participate... though that would make me very glad!
So, here's some rules first:
1. No crap about anyone else, mocking or bashing anything or such
2. Sticky caps, erotica, downright hardcore porn and cussing is allright, as long as it has something to do with the story
3. Poems are also allowed, but I can't see how you can base a poem off a song without getting too close to the song itself, so I would like to see that
4. You don't have to write about the song, but just be inspired by it or something like that
Even just inspired by the title, if you haven't heard it But if it's very far from the song, tell me in the authors note which song it's from
If you think it's obvious, I won't stress about you having to write it, I'll rather send an PM if I don't get it
Yeah... More like guidelines than rules actually

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on July 2, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 320, Silver: 140, Bronze: 50, Honorable mention: 2 people
- Final notes: This contest must have beat some records here, as it has been open since April of 2007 =P
So, I want to thank all of you for waiting, and for writing these superb pieces!
I really loved most of the entries, and I wanted to award everyone... But alas, I can't and so I have decided upon winners:
Gold goes to the superb story I'm Coming for You, which reminded me of so many stories I've read and movies I've seen (and love), but it set it's own mood and had a special feel to it, and it was just overall very good =)
The Silver is awarded to another superb story, The Last Note, which really had an impact, both because of the great content and the very impressive way it was written =)
Bronze goes to Chain, yet another great story with great content written in an amazing way by a talented author =)
HM's goes to the two stories
Piano in the Dark
and
Clear Vision
And I just wish I could have given gold to all of these stories =)
Runner up is The Dark Legacy.
All the other stories were also great, and I enjoyed reading every single one =)
Well done everyone, and I added some points today, as thanks for waiting for so long =P
So, again, thanks, and I hope you'll all enter my next contests, which will hopefully only last a week or two, and not a year +
~ Drac

great video *loves some smashing pumpkins songs*
-
-
Haha, better say Dracy then Rachel
Bacause the ius thing is only related to bad memories
Hehe, but yeah, Bullet with butterfly wings has a great video.... You should write about it Rachel!
Btw, I saw you posted a new story!
*goes to read*
-
-
Wow!!!
Talk about a lot of song. Hope you get a lot of great entries.
-
-
Thank you, so do I

Have you heard any?
Would love it if you would enter!
-
-
I am so lame and old.
The only songs I know are the old ones; The Doors, etc. And I only know Country really.
I'm just too old for this contest

But hey will see what I can do.
-
-
There is nothing lame about The Doors

And I knew that I forgot some musical genres... Country for instance isn't very well represented, is it?
Hmm... There is a lack of it on my playlist though, so I wouldn't know what to feature
But hey, I reccomend all these songs!
And remembere, you can write a story only inspired by the title!
But yeah, thanks for considering it
Would be great to read an entry from you
-
-
I didn't mean that the Doors were lame, just me. And will see what I can come up with. Thanks for the ego boost.

-
-
-
-
-
Wednesday 13, Murderdolls, Iron Maiden, Life of Angony, all great bands. I think I may have something for this contest.
-
-
Yeah, someone with a good taste in music I see
I hope you'll enter!
(Don't worry about the time limit, I will prolong it alot )
EDIT: Saw you entered! Great!
I'll be reading it soon
And hey, I LOVE that song
(Have written a story based on it myself
)
So that's a brownie-point right there
-
-
OMG I SO WANNA DO THIS!!!! DDD: I have GOT to find the time. :3
-
-
I sure hope you find time

And don't worry about the deadline, it will be expanded, trust me
-
-
I LOVE YOU!!!!! U HAVE A SONG FROM LABYRINTH AND IT'S DAVID BOWIE! *SQUEAL*
-
-
Hehe, actually, you made me download that song

(By writing the lyrics somewhere, I just had to download it
) And that's why I have it in this contest
It's a great song
-
-
I don't know ANY of these people...bummer...
-
-
That's ok, just get inspired by a title or something then? That's also possible!

But hey, I reccomend all of those songs
-
-
Those titles ARE pretty interesting...I'll look into that.
-
-
-
ooohhhhh
Her Ghost in the Fog is the greatest CoF song ever. I love how they had the guy who played Pinhead in the Hellraiser movies do the intro to that song. Too cool.
Although Nymphetamine comes in as a close second..... -
-
Omg! You are so right!

Those are my two favorites too, and you are also talking to a major Hellraiser nut! (Has all the 8 movies
)
So yeah, I loved that too!
And the girl in Nymphetamine, Liv Kristine, is the singer in another of my favorite bands, Theatre Of Tradgedy
Well, I hope you'll come up with something for the contest! Would be great!
-
OMG I SO KNOW!!! haha i love CRADLE OF FILTH! theyre my favourite band... i think i shall look into writing about her ghost in the fog. hmmm...
-
-
wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww songsssssss
i listen to these songs all the day they are my favs
all my beloved bands

wow i am confused what to choose this is greatttttt thanks for da contest
-
-
Glad you like it!

These are the most of my beloved bands too, hehe

So, choose away, and enter your story!
-
-
can I do Let The Bodies Hit The Floor by Drowning Pool? If not thats fine I juss wanna know.
-
-
Well.. Sure you can! =)
-
ooh good song =D
-
-
You might also like Kryptoria, Angtoria, Apocalyptica, Sirenia, Therion and After Forever. Maybe Epica and Leaves' Eyes. Possibly The Rasmus too.
Off subject much? Yeah. That's what happens when I see song titles and artist names.
Good luck with the contest!
Oh, and maybe Edguy and Guano Apes (sp?). -
-
Hehe =D
I already like Angtoria, Apocalyptica, Sirenia, After Forever, Leaves Eyes, The Rasmus and Edguy! =D
So you got me there!
Leaves Eyes features the same singer as in Theater Of Tragedy... The awsome Liv Kristine! =D
Yeah, just had to say it =)
(The only reason I didn't feature all these bands, and alot of others, was that it would make tooooo long of a list =D)
So thanks for your post... And I'll surely check out Kryptoria, Therion, Epica and Guano Apes =)
-
-
Might have to enter this, as you have some great songs on here!
-
Oooooo! now i have an urge to go play with my Cds! I love so many of the bands on here.... and i thought i was the only Katatonia fan on the planet! no body ever seems to have heard of them!!!! For my Demons is such a great album!!!! Good luck with this contest!
-
I am so entering this contest! i have the perfect story idea for the perfect song on here! i hope i can get it in on the time!
-
*Is just like Soda/Rachel/Venus and doesn't recognize anything except stairway to heaven*

I think I'm gonna write something today for this though!!!
xoxo
Tay -
a great selection of songs and artists...i'll see what i can write!!! xx
-
Hmmm, I'm a My Chem fanatic. You'd think I was nuts if I start talking about them and never end...so I was disappointed when you said that there were no My Chem songs on here in a kind of negative tone. But, hey, all life doesn't revolve around My Chem.
Anybryars, you have Smashing Pumpkins, HIM, and Cradle of Filth. Kudos for that =) -
can we write poetry about a couple of songs all mixed in?
oh and can i do a song by WED13 that you dont have there...? -
Damn! You have good taste in music!
-
Proud of you for banning Fall Out Boy.
I'm ashamed to say I don't recognise some of these songs. And a lot of them I've heard of the band, but not the song... But hey, at least I've heard of Smashing Pumpkins, that's something. And The Cure are there! Yay!
I might enter, but I really doubt it. Good luck anyway! -
"There Must Be Some Way Out Of Here - Jimi Hendrix"
I'm pretty sure the song you're thinking of is "All along the Watchtower"... just so to not confuse anybody... (it was originally a Bob Dylan song, btw)
-
-
Hehe, you are indeed correct!
My Jimi Hendrix knowledge is very bad, but I should have known this... especially if it was originally a Dylan song...
Thanks for informing me
-
-
There are so many beautiful songs to be inspired from... I looked but maybe I missed, is Under the Bridge by RHCP on it? Or perhaps Hurt by Johnny Cash? I love that Goodbye Love (From Rent) is on here... I will consider doing something for that
-
You have *really* great taste in music! i usually don't write for or about songs, but as soon as you wrote about not wanting fall out boy or my chemical romance (yea, I hate them) i just had to read on. I recognise most of the songs/ bands so i think I shell write about one... Well byebye
-
-
Great! =D Looking foreward to your entry! =)
-
-
heyy
i have a story connected with my chemical romance's "Ghost of You," its not on the list i think, but its an amazing song, and i think you would like it. do u mind if i enter it? -
-
Sorry, but as I state in the very beginning of the contest explanation, "there is going to be NO my chemical romance or fall out boy... so if you want to write about any of those, there's already hundreds of contest doing those..."
And I'll stick to that too, because I mean it, and it wouldn't be as fun to read a story based on a song I never heard, or even had plans of hearing... Maybe I'll read it sometime else though, cause I don't doubt it's good... but not now, and not for this contest... Stories about songs like that will be DQed...
-
-
I love that song by David Bowie! Ever since I've watched Labyrinth, I've been hooked
!! I absolutely love Within Temptation, though!! Good luck to everyone entering the contest! I would if I had half the brains to write based on such good music!
-
Hey look at that! I'm on the list!
-
heh..
I love the Safety Dance...I didn't know anyone other than me still liked it. -
-
The safety dance is great =D I even have a 'best of' cd of the band, whee =D
-
-
Bligey! You werent kidding when you said there would be a lot of songs to choose from. Although I do believe I spotted a song from the 'Labyrinth' in that list. I may enter. With this much choice your bound to get loads of enteries.
X Amber X -
yesh! you made the doors an option
now if only i had been around the frisco scene -
This Night Has Opened My Eyes - Morrisey
I already wrote the story I joined with (pre-write), but when looking through the list of songs, I saw this title and it matches PERFECTLY with the story! Hope you enjoy! -
Wow we have the same taste in music. Yay I'm bookmarking this!
-
lol. Drac, this has become the oldest contest of all time. It even had its anniversary passed away!
-
-
Haha, I know... Wonder why I'm not nominated for best contest host
-
-
Well, I was just glancing through contests, and I stumbled on this. Not sure I'm to enter, I found your song choices intriguing, though. Just thought I'd mention that All Along the Watchtower by Hendrix is actually a cover. ^_^ The original's Dylan, I believe. Doesn't affect the contest much, just thought it interesting. (:
-
Any chance of adding Something i can never have by Nine Inch Nails to ur list?!
-
-
I'd rather not

Never heard it
-
-
You know, I've got a story that's heavily inspired by various Iron Maiden and ICP songs -- mainly Be Quick or Be Dead and Piggy Pie. Would that be close enough or would you prefer a new write based on the specific songs on the list?
(In all honesty, just about everything I've written is inspired by a Maiden, ICP, Megadeth, etc. song.)
