Contest: New Members Contest - October/November 2006
Welcome to the November New Member's Contest!
This contest is open only for the members of StoryWrite who have joined in the month of OCTOBER OR NOVEMBER.
The theme for this contest is:
Giving thanks
In the United States, November is the month where Thanksgiving is celebrated. But StoryWrite is a diverse site and we have members from all over the globe. The Greeter Team understands this, and we are giving everyone a chance to enter with two different choices.
Choice 1
For our new members in the US, write a story about Thanksgiving. You can make it funny, or serious. The choice is yours.
Choice 2
Write a story about thankfulness. Tell us in any form of story about something in your life that you are thankful for.
Rules:
1. No erotica or adult only type stories.
This contest is for all ages - so those who are under the age of 18 years and those who prefer to not view adult stories need to be able to read the entries also.
2. No foul language.
3. No sTiCkY cApS or chat lingo
4. One entry per person - If you collaborate, the other writer must be a new November member also.
5. Entries must be 200 – 300 words or more.
6. Pick only one choice. Even if you celebrate Thanksgiving, you are still welcome to enter using choice number 2. It does not have to be about Thanksgiving.
7. Put which choice you chose somewhere on your entry. It can be used as the title, or you can place it at the top or bottom of the story. Or you can place it in your author notes section. But it MUST be listed somewhere. Otherwise you will be disqualified when it comes time to judge entries.
Please make sure to check back from time to time after you submit your entry. There may be a notice of corrections or editing that may need to be done. It would be a shame if you were disqualified because you didn't do this.
Before submitting your story, please ask yourself the following:
•Does this meet closely with the requirements of the contest?
•Did you go over the story and check for any grammatical or typographical errors?
•If you were judging, would you be able to see how this would or would NOT win placement?
First place will win a Gold Trophy and 100 points
Second place will win a Silver Trophy and 50 points
Third place will win a Bronze Trophy and 25 points
All entries will receive an honorable mention.
Best wishes to all,
The StoryWrite Greeter Team

Contest Showcased Featured Stories
CONTEST NOTATION #1
As an added bonus and side benefit to the new members who join the new members writing contest, a selected number of entries will be "Showcased" or "Featured" to the general site membership for reading and reviewing.
This showcasing is done automatically for all entrants by the contest host. Your story is placed in the Featured Story section on the main page for general reading. Entries are randomly selected by the host as representative of the new and interesting talented writers joining the site.
If for any reason you would not like to have your work showcased, you should make this request at the time of entry as part of your submission.
