WOO HOO! Another contest
I love making contests. It's so exciting getting entries!
So, first let me tell you the story behind this contest. I was just browsing through youtube, and I accidentally found the song "The Promise" by Tracy Chapman? I swear; it's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. In case you've never heard it, here's the url:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvC77iWO648
So I was listening to this GORGEOUS song, and then I started watching Sukisyo (it's a yaoi anime, or in other words, an anime about gay love). The show has to do with betrayal and broken promises, not to mention the power of accidental love. I started crying, because I just thought the song summed up the show so nicely.
So, with that background, here are your options:
1) A story about a love-hate relationship. Take it any direction you want. You can have the two characters hating each other in the beginning, and then accidentally falling in love, or whatever you can think of. As long as it's a love-hate relationship at one point in the story.
2) A story about a broken promise. Once again, take this any direction you want. It can be as huge or small a promise as you 'd like.
3) A story about a broken heart.
4) A story about two friends who are separated at one point in their life, while fighting secret feelings for each other (Incredibly cliche, but oh-so-romantic)
5) A story about waiting (pretty vague, but remember, it must be related to romance in some way)
6) A story about someone who lost someone they loved dearly
**************More options will be added as I think of them!!!***************
If you need more inspiration, just message me for a song, word, quote, or picture prompt.
Now, for my least favorite part...the rules.
1) GRAMMAR AND SPELLING MATTER!!! I'm sorry but, I get really sick of reading stories that a third grader could write.
2) NO FANFIC (especially Twilight. All my friends are trying to get me to read that crap, but I refuse refuse refuse!!)
3) Erotica are allowed, in moderation.
4) Minimum- 1000 words
Maximum- None
5) Prewrites will only be allowed for a week before I close the contest to prewrites.
For Brownie points, add any of the following:
1) A beach setting
2) Rain
3) Gay love (This is the BIGGEST one. I absolutely adore love between two men. I'm not a big fan of lesbian love, but I'll read it)
4) Imagery, metaphors, and similes (Possibly my favorite things to read in a story)
5) Dancing in the rain
6) Dancing in the moonlight
7) Sex (it doesn't have to be obvious; if you've never written a sex scene, it can just be implied)
8) Love letters
9) Stolen kisses and moments
10) An original love confession
11) A pillowfight
12) Camping out under the stars
13) Boys crying
14) Profound conversations after sex
15) Hospitals
16) Babysitting younger siblings
17) Insecurity masked by overconfidence/cockiness
18) Best friends turned lovers
19) Rape (Now, this one can't be taken as a joke. Emotions and realistic reactions is what will make a story about rape readable to me.)
*****************************************************************
Well, that's all I can think of for now. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!
