SECTION 1
Part 1: Introduction
This is the second installment of the "From The Jungle to the Page" five part column. In this section we will focus specifically on African Animals, plants and rivers, culture and some folk tales from that continent.
Part 2: The RIver Wild
As you know Africa is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea, The Suez Canal, the Red Sea, Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean.
With 46 countries to base your stories from, including Madagascar which is a beautiful Island, and the greatest continent which has a variety of wonders.
Africa is also known to be the first place humans inhabited, which would also make it the oldest inhabited continent. One of greatest things to write about would be music. The music which was birthed from Africa wasn't fancy or well written, it was something that was emotional and just happened. Many forms of music were derived from African music, including RB, Rap, Samba and Hip Hop.
When writing about your character in a foreign country, remember to research on the culture. If your creating your own world, it is a good idea to look at all the aspects of a country. Law, Culture, Tradition, Royal Rules and regulations, history and most of all where the people came from first.
Including all these things will make your story, background, detail and character even more alive.
Also listing various animals will do your story good. Here are some animals to think about when thinking of details.
Lion, Leopard, Spotted Hyena and the Cheeta. These are my favorites.
How would you describe them in your stories??
Part 3: Legends and Myths
One of my favorite myths would be "Queen Amina of Zaria, the warrior"
Here is the Wikipedia link, which is found under "Legends of Africa" this wikipedia information will give you wonderful insight to the worlds around you.
