Firefox fix for the chatterbox

This fix has been tested by myself and resolved my Chatbox issue. It might not work for all, but atleast it's a possible solution.

I'm not certain this fix works for Internet Explorer. I'm still checking on that.

As for what causes the issue, it's upgrading to Adobe Flash 9. This means you're stuck with version 8 until they resolve the issue. Sorry.

IMPORTANT INFO! PLEASE READ!

DO NOT use this fix if you are having no issue with the chatbox. Also, this fix WILL NOT fix the issue in Internet Explorer.

The fix has been proven to fix the chatbox in the Firefox browser, so if you are not having any luck using Firefox or Internet Explorer to get into the chatbox, then using this fix will fix the chatbox in Firefox.




Instructions for fixing Firefox. If you get stuck on these, IM me, and I will help as I can.



Open Firefox.

Go to the link below:

http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe

Click Save File

The file will download in the Downloads box

Click open beside the uninstall_flash_player.exe folder - this will open the archive

Click Open

Click OK

Click Next

Click Close


Go to the link below:

http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/installers/archive/fp8_archive.zip

Click OK

The file will download in the Downloads box

Click open beside the fp8_archive.zip folder - this will open the archive

Click Extract All Files

Click Next

Click Next

Click Finish

Double Click the fp8_archive

Double Click R22

Double Click flashplayer8r22_win.exe

Close Firefox

Reopen Firefox, go to Storywrite.com and test. With any luck, it will now be fixed.

    Never mind... found it (Control Panel). I have Adobe Flash Player ActiveX, version 9.0.115.0 ... would that be the flash9? (I also have java that updates regularly.... jave was my issue on the laptop that stopped my CB from working)

    I have no problems with the CB (wish I did at times, though)... beyond that one problem where it wasn't working on one page, but the larger CB was still working. I use IE 7.0

    If one wanted to find out what version they have on their computer, where would they look?

      check your control panel add /remove to find flash Nunber and do a search for flash files, there is a problem with flash9 and 8.1 to fix, the flash active x files must be removed or it will revert back the problem. So delete all flash related dill files before reloading, anything in windows 32 file... then reload flash 8 no higher good luck

    A pop-up keeps coming up saying download version 8 now, but I always hit remind me later XD

    But I haven't really experienced problems with the CB, unless the quotation marks count as a problem.

      It's only a problem with Flash 9. If you're still on Flash 7, you're way out of date

    Upgrading to Flash Nine?? That's what went wrong .. I remember downloading the latest Flash and then the CB went south.
    I tried your instruction, but no joy ... CB still doesn't work for me.

    Sorry still don't follow those instructions and not risking delateing flash player again since I didn't think i had flash player 9 before today

    I redid the instructions, as I noticed I was using Internet Explorer when I started writing them down (old habits die hard).

    I tested with the new instructions, and they work much better.

    The problem doesn't occur for everyone. It seems to only occur when someone upgrades to Flash 9.

    The problem makes the chatbox keep saying it lost its connection.

    The fix only fixes the issue in Firefox, but I'm working toward helping the Internet Explorer crowd as well.

    I broke my chatbox to fins out how to fix it today, and I can't use mine in Internet Explorer either (which I prefer over Firefox, so I'm suffering with those who still want Internet Explorer to work with the chatbox.

      Internet Explorer sucks now a days. Firefox is much better all around.
      Die hard IE users are screwed. They'll learn sooner or later.

    Well doing that and not being able to follow the instuctions writen it still wont connect and did nothing before i reloaded flash player on my computer

      I read it but I don't understand what the problem with the CB is.

      Maybe I just don't have one
