1. Spotlighted stories are written by StoryWrite authors—this means you.
2. They are then read by StoryWrite members—this means you.
3. Next they are nominated by the members of StoryWrite—need I mention “This means you?”
4. They are reviewed then approved by staff to move on to the “Spotlight”.
As you can see, you, the StoryWrite members, are the bulk of this process. This is a process that is all inclusive. Any time that any reader views a story that truly impresses them; they have the option to nominate it for the front page spotlight section.
How do you do this?
While viewing a story, if you look down the right hand margin under the heading “View Options”, you will see “Nominate for front page.” You can click on that link and nominate that story to be “In the Spotlight.” You will be asked to briefly give your reasons for considering it an exceptional write.
Keep in mind that all nominations will be subject to staff approval before moving on to the “Spotlight” section in full view of the entire community. It is a best of the best section that is also visible to the public. Here are a few things to consider when nominating a story.
A story that will be considered for approval can be on any topic as long as it is not adult, erotica or other material that would be screened from the eyes of those members under age 15. This is because this section can be viewed by those who are not logged into the site.
The story can be any length. It can be any genre other than those mentioned above. As long as it is within the limits of StoryWrite site policy, it is fair game for nomination. It will only be approved if it is an example of polished writing. The spotlight area is not the place for rough drafts. It is a place to exhibit polished pieces of writing that keep a readers interest and are relatively free of typos.
You can only nominate stories that are NOT your own. So, if you want to get into the spotlight yourself, write excellent stories, edit your work and polish it up so that maybe it will impress someone else enough to nominate it.
So, the next time you read a story that has you uttering a big, “Wow”, click the link and nominate it for the front page.
"In the Spotlight" offers an opportunity for the world to see an extraordinary write, but where do the stories listed under “In the Spotlight” on the front page come from?

Ohhhh, I didn't realise just anyone could nominate a story, I thought it was something only the Mods could do. Guess not, I'll keep that in mind when reading.

Excellent column
Hope that people start submitting those stories so that others can read!
One thing though...
... they should be stories, and not poems(there have been a lot of poems submitted to it)
