  • After some thought, we're now trying another alternative to the way backgrounds were changed several weeks ago. On larger monitors, we'd made it so backgrounds with a left edge repeated again on the right page of the screen. Now they are only on the left side again.

The background editor has been simplified too for left-edge backgrounds, as no edge color is required. Happy story writing!

  • Come see who it is!
  • Storywrite is designed to be an interactive site where people read, comment, and receive comments.

Sounds easy, doesn't it? Then why does it seem like it would be easier at times to get trampled by a rhino than to get a comment?
  • The Holidays Are Coming Up. Here are some tips on how to write that holiday story you might be thinking of doing!
  • Last week we had some exciting changes: New (similar) logo, pretty background header, lots of fixes. Cost of contests went up for awhile to 200, but is now back to 100 due to problems with current contests. Chat has had many updates and now notifies you when you have a new message. Drafts, with autosaving, to help prevent losing data. We've updated how backgrounds work too. Enjoy!
  • As writers, we love to put words in other people's (i.e. our characters's) mouths. This article will help you use correct punctuation when writing that dialogue.

  • ONLY use this fix if you need to fix the chatbox in Internet Explorer and you DO NOT use Firefox to browse the internet.

This fix WILL DEFINITELY disable flash in Firefox.
  • This fix has been tested by myself and resolved my Chatbox issue. It might not work for all, but atleast it's a possible solution.

I'm not certain this fix works for Internet Explorer. I'm still checking on that.

As for what causes the issue, it's upgrading to Adobe Flash 9. This means you're stuck with version 8 until they resolve the issue. Sorry.

  • StoryWrite Greeter Team Application by SageSyren, Kylia Skydancer, , from SW Greeters
This is the new application page for a position on the StoryWrite Greeters Team.
    ________________________________________________________

Basic criteria for becoming a StoryWrite Greeter

    1. 6 Months on the StoryWrite site.
    2. Age 17 and older.
    3. An ability to get along with others.
    4. No Code of Conduct violations for 6 months. This includes ChatterBox as well as Code of Conduct violations on any of the sister sites.
    5. A working knowledge of the StoryWrite features and site functions.
    6. A history of commenting regularly on stories.

A good candidate is a person who enjoys reading and commenting on others and finds it rewarding to encourage new writers.

The greeters team is usually the first point of contact a new member has to the StoryWrite site. Greeter duties include

    1. Welcoming new members to the site.
    2. Reading and commenting on new members' stories.
    3. Answering questions that any member on the site might have and manning the Help Desk.
    4. Generally helping the new member feel comfortable with site navigation.
    5. Judging the Monthly New Members Contest.
    6. Helping the new member integrate into the StoryWrite community.

If you meet the criteria and have a desire to encourage new writers, apply in a response to this column. Briefly answer these questions in your application and give us a brief description telling us why you think you would be a good greeter.

    1. How much time during the week do you spend on SW?

    2. If you had a choice to be described as trustworthy or outgoing, which would best describe you?

    3. How much site savvy do you have about SW?
(How much do you know about how the site works?)

If you are considered for the position, you will be notified. If you are not immediately notified after you leave your application, please be patient. There are numerous members applying, and every one of them is given the same attention while we evaluate them when a position opens up.

If there is a reason that your application absolutely cannot be accepted we will notify you of that as well and let you know when you are eligible to apply again.
