Writing A Best-Seller

All the info I've gathered about writing a best-seller.
I know there are those out there that want nothing more than to see their novel on the "Best-Seller's" shelf at their local bookstore.

I, personally, am one of those people.

There would be nothing better than watching people buying my book, wanting to read my book. I'm sure you do too! Its a beginning writers' dream.

So, I've compiled most (if not all) the information I've gathered about writing a decent novel and decided to share it with you!

Excited? Yeah, me too!

First of all, you might need to make a checklist to make sure you've covered all the key points here

1. Do you have an idea that is original, creative, and captivating?
--If not, then STOP here!
Revise or add to your idea so that it fits or come up with a new one. No one wants to read Hailey Porter and the Wizard's Ruby. Lol, not that you would steal that idea, right?

2. Is your idea full of actiony goodness that will keep your reader entertained throughout your novel and left wanting more after they've read the last page? or
-- If it's not and "action" idea, then is it full of whatever you're trying to tell? Like magical amazingness, or horrifying horror? If not, I suggest you make it that way. No one wants someone to fall asleep reading your book and get the pretty pages all wet and soggy, right?

3. Are your characters genuine, original, and likeable? Or are the "evil" ones diabolical, malicious and have thier mind set on achieving whatever it is they want to achieve?
--Try avoid all the cliche types of characters. Like the damsel in distress, or the anti-social 'cool guy' that the new girl falls for because he's 'mysterious'. Done WAY too times. Try to come up with your own characters.

4. Does the plot move at a good pace? Or is it too slow, and leaves your readers slumped over the book drooling again? Or is it too fast, leaving your reader's thinking "what?"

5. Does your idea have a good ending? Does the protagonist (hero) defeat the antigonist ('baddie') in the end? If so, I give you your props. If not, if your hero dies at the end, SHAME ON YOU! How could you?

6.(the most important question of all) Are you determined enough to do what it takes to get your novel to that Best-Seller's shelf?
Yes?
Good.

Hope this helped you!

It's great hearing from someone who has done it. I've looked through all of the 'writing help' books, but they said the same things.
I wish for stories and such, not what I have heard before. Isn't that rather cleche-ish? Lol. Thanks for the tips though. I think I've got something even more origional than Twilight! *I guess that's saying a lot, because no one has ever heard of what I've got!* Mine!

Very good. XD I just finished my first novel and hopefully think Yes to all those. But of course, rewrites come first.
