Have you been published or self published?

If you have a book published please check out this column!

If you have any questions IM me because the comment section here is only to be used for promotion of your stories. It is becoming a problem, and I am having to delete a lot of comments that isn't promotion. The reason why you need to IM me is that I might not see the question at the moment in my notes. Feel free to send me nIM on the site and I will respond asap. If the comment is not promotion of your currently published work it will be deleted.

Firstly, I would like to thank Errant Panther (allpoetry member) for this suggestion. I will be putting together a column of SW poets who have been published, or self published. If you have a story that's been published in a book with other stories you can also link to that as well.  If you would like to be included in this column please leave your information below with the latest links to your books, and ISBN number.

Please do NOT post someone elses info on this column. I need for them to put their own information in because when you do this you'll be giving me full permission to post it on the column. If they don't post their own info in that means I would have to track them down for personal permission so it's just better for each indiviual to post their own.

If you have a poem that's been published there is a column on allpoetry.

If you have any questions IM me because the comment section here is only to be used for promotion of your books.

Thanks!

    Oh, sorry.

My bibliography is on my website at http://kodyboye.itrello.com (under the Bibliography section.) For some reason, it doesn't let me post a direct link to the pages.

My novel, Sunrise, is being traditionally published by a small press later this year. : )

I am very interested in self publishing and have a question for anyone here who would like to answer. I have been looking at createspace.com, lulu.com and cafepress.com. Does anyone here have any feedback about service, hidden fees, positve or negative experience?

CreateSpace, the best (and cheapest) out of all of them. CafePress' books don't have that good of quality, Lulu.com overcharges for their books. CreateSpace, you can pay a forty-dollar-a-year fee to get bonus royalties and the option to order your books at a reduced printed price (which is also where your extra royalties come from when others buy your books.)

Look into CreateSpace. They might be a little more confusing, but they're better in the long run.

I read an online article that said that even though they are all "free" services, all extras they tack on (editing, layout and all that...) can make it up to 2000 per novel-run. Do you know anything about that?

        thanks for the info btw

Well, yes -- There's the cost of editing, if you don't have proofreaders willing to do it for you; there's the cost of laying out your manuscript if you don't know how to do that (which is fairly easy); there's the cost of comissioning an artist for a cover; there's the cost for buying promotional copies to either send out for review, the cost of buying ad space in magazines or tables at cons.

Really, if you're going to self-publish, you need to be willing to part with a little money first. BUT, really, I don't suggest self-publishing if you're an unknown. Get your name out there, get a few credits, make yourself known. I've worked since the end of 2006 on promoting myself, and so far, it's starting to pay off.

It takes long, hard work in order to make yourself well known. If people don't know anything about your book, they're not going to be willing to buy it.
