Chatterbox Ban System

The chatroom is a common source of frustration on Storywrite, and we've launched a new system where you get to be the chat helper.

 

The chatroom is a common source of frustration on Storywrite, and we've launched a new system where you get to be the chat helper. Anyone can make anonymous complaints, and users who get multiple complaints will be given a short chat ban.

The chat complaint link is on the larger Chatterbox. Just click on the 'Chatterbox' located above the small CB, and you're there!

For chat complaints, please click "Rules / Complaints" just below the Chatterbox. "If someone is breaking the rules, please use the complaint form." (which would be http://storywrite.com/chat/complaint )

Moderators will be watching the log of complaints, and will fine/ban/yell at people who are making inaccurate complaints.

We'll be experimenting with how many complaints to require before a ban and other tweaks to make it most effective.

    This site is really great, thanks !

    I am in the process of trying to write a great novel. And, it's great that we have people that care, and are willing to help others succeed . We all know, it is brutal competition , getting your book out in the public. But I am sure, it will be alot easier for most of us, when we can get help when needed . Thanks !

    I'm really glad that you reminded me and everyone else of the Chat Ban. I had heard of it once, but I never knew how to get there.... and there are so many people who promte or use inappropriate phrases and stuff in the CB and it just gets really annoying. Thank you!

    Even though the system has been around for over half a year, a lot of people are either not aware, or do not decide to use the chat ban system. This is just to remind them that it is there.

    This is a good idea.

    Banning SOME ppl is a good idea because SOME ppl cuss and spam and things.

    I hate it when ppl cuss and when they do I always have to leave the chatterbox.

    So, this is a great way of helping out.

    This is perfect. I've been waiting for somthing along these lines for...well a month or two. It somtimes gets really annoying, some of the things people do.

    Also, either there's a bug with the CB, or my comuter's just messed up, BUT, It hasn't been working for 3 days. Possible error?

    Great stuff; it's simple and easy to use. With a Mod monitoring system in the background it should put the onus back on the people that abuse CB. Peer pressure and all that!

    Goodness me, I might actually use it one day!
