As many know, Storywrite has a forum area.
If you didn't know, or haven't clicked to visit, then read on!!!
In the upper menu tabs, there is one that says "Forums".....
Let’s just get those pesky(but very helpful) rules out of the way first.
q No bashing, cursing, posting derogatory posts directed at others. Topics that bash or flame another site member will be locked or removed.
q No promoting your poems, columns, groups or contests. (The mentioning of syndicated columns is different, since they are featured for help)
q You can’t post links to competitor’s sites, except in the ‘Published Forum’, and only if they are helpful to those writing.
q Posting links to other sites, if interesting, are okay… certainly, we don’t want you posting your myspace page, or something personal like that, but if you post things like “Can you believe this?!” and then the link, then it would depend on what it’s for.
q No pornographic sites, or things like that. The forum is open to all site members, and even to those not logged in to the site.
q Complaints about site policy or site management belongs on the Policy board only.
Let’s look at the boards one by one…
About Writing - Conversations about the short story writing world.
The blurb says it all. Here is where you can find and post topics about the world of writing.
Have you come across a site that has a permanent spot on your bookmark list and is invaluable in your writing? Let us know! I’m not sure about others, but I’m always interested in finding new sources of information.
A little note though… it’s not a forum for anyone to come across as the ultimate know-it-all regarding writing. Everyone has his or her weaknesses and strengths, and coming across as ‘my opinion is the only right one’ wears a little thin after a while.
Posting Storywrite content… an interesting concept. And one that is not allowed. If you’re going to post a couple lines from one of your stories to show something, then that would be allowed…as long as it is not abused with constant posting to ‘show’ things. Please do not mention titles, either.
Posting critiques to show someone something is allowed, providing that the critique isn’t recent, and does not mention titles, or names in it.
Social - Social or non story related topics. Meet your fellow writers!
A place to hang out, and have some fun. The topics can be about anything, but remember the site policy when posting.
Topics posting or promoting your stories or contests will be removed. As will topics that bash or flame other site members. Healthy discussion is always a good thing, but once it falls into insults or swearing, your post may be edited or removed completely.(you’ll always be advised of the ‘why’ either way by a moderator).
Published - Got a book out? Let us and your friends know about it here!
Yep. This is the spot where you can brag up your book that is posted off site. Please don’t post prices, though… that’s a little over the top, not to mention slightly tacky. The link you provide should have all that information on it anyway.
Or, if you have a web site that publishes, why not let us know? This isn’t for people to add their stories to your blog, or myspace pages, but for those that have a genuine site that publishes, or eZines.
Do you have any publishing horror stories? Let others know of your experiences and maybe save them the agony that you experienced. Did that company you contacted actually get back to you and treat you like a human? Tell!!
Suggestions, Errors, Policies - Have a suggestion or experiencing a problem with the site? Upset about one of our policies?
This is where any complaints or problems with the site get posted. This includes any complaints regarding bans, or moderator/greeter/chat helper conduct.
When placed here, the complaints can be officially dealt with. Also, this is the one place where moderators will be able to post information regarding your complaint. Say, if you received a chat ban, and you post that it was unfair… the moderator can post the chat transcript, the warnings you were given, and the ban. They can also post other pertinent information regarding that complaint.
This is not a forum for people to bash management, unless they have a complaint about them. When reading topics/complaints, remember… there are two sides to every story, and try to refrain from jumping on any bandwagons before knowing all the information. (I know it’s hard to do… heck, I’ve been bumped off some pretty big wagons before after finding out information that I didn’t know before hand)
Adult Board 'The Pub' - Adult discussion. Rowdiness tolerated, but the proprietor may kick you out if it's too much.
The newest Storywrite addition. SInce it contains potential adult discussion, the board is only open to site members 18 years old and over.
There are a few rules, mainly: no harassment, nothing illegal, and no name calling. Topics can become heated, and posting is at your own risk. Basically, this board, like all other aspects of the site, follow site policy.
Now… on to some forum hints….
How do I post a topic?
How do I reply to a topic or post?
To reply … click the ‘reply’ in the post you want to reply to. Just putting it in the box at the bottom will send it to the main post, and the person will have no idea that you messaged them. Plus, it will place the replies out of order and make it hard for anyone to follow. Replies to your posts will appear to you in your notes. To reply to them, click on the topic header to be taken to the forum, and fill out the reply there. If you click on the ‘reply’ in the system message, your reply will be sent to the person as an IM. I think Kevin is planning on changing that in the future, but keep it in mind when replying.
Hopefully, this gives some information, and maybe a little interest in the forum area. I may add more to this when I think of things… or, if someone thinks of something I’ve forgotten, please let me know!!!

Make sure you leave me some nice juicy adult board posts to reply to
